Darth Vader actor David Prowse has predestined the Star Wars prequels as "really bad movies."

The former bodybuilder played the villain in George Lucas' original sci-fi trilogy, but was absent from the following prequel films which showed his character growing up.

Prowse has now divulged he was not a fan of the follow-up films, The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.

Fans at this year's Comic Con who attended the Star Wars Fan Movie Awards were surprised with a short teaser for the upcoming (Sept. 16) Star Wars Saga Blu-ray release featuring a few storied deleted scenes from the original trilogy.

The clip includes a short teaser from last year's event, in which Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) is shown building his green lightsaber before heading off to save Han Solo (Harrison Ford) from Jabba The Hutt.

Star Wars actor David Prowse has been banned from attending any events connected to the sci-fi franchise after reportedly "annoying" creator George Lucas.

The star, who played Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy, reportedly fell out with Lucas when the filmmaker used another actor when the iconic character was unmasked.

Prowse has also been accused of leaking plots relating to Vader's death, while the actor alleges he has not been paid a fair share of profit from the films.

Star Wars actor David Prowse has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. The 73-year-old, who played Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy, revealed he was battling the disease during an interview with U.K. radio host Christian O'Connell.

He said: "I'm undergoing treatment for prostate cancer, would you believe. I'm having my very last treatment this morning. The actor who played Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy is hoping a film convention this week will see him reconcile with franchise creator George Lucas. David Prowse, who played the man in black but not his famous voice, has endured a bitter 24-year feud with the moviemaker after allegedly leaking Return Of The Jedi plot details to the press in 1983.
