Actor Jason Priestley's directorial debut, Cas & Dylan, has picked up the Audience Award at the Whistler Film Festival in Canada.

The former Beverly Hills, 90210 star stepped behind the camera for his first narrative feature, and the road trip comedy has become a break-out hit at the annual British Columbia movie festival.

The film stars Richard Dreyfuss as a dying man who decides to spend the rest of his days travelling Canada, but ends up on the lam with an eccentric young woman, played by Orphan Black's Tatiana Maslany.

Beverly Hills, 90210 star Jason Priestley has accepted his role in the popular teen drama will always be his most famous, despite insisting the show was just "one stop along the way."

The actor played Brandon Walsh for nine years in the hugely successful high school series, which ran for 10 seasons and made him a global star alongside Shannen Doherty and Tori Spelling.

However, Priestley admits he still can't understand why that character remains his most famous, especially as the show was panned by critics.

Shannen's one time "Beverly Hills, 90210" friend Tori Spelling recently complained that her former co-stars now "hate" her.

Tori explained, "Jennie (Garth) and I are still friends. (Tiffani Thiessen)...doesn't talk to me anymore. A man has been arrested on suspicion of breaking into actor Jason Priestley's Los Angeles home. Police were called to the former "Beverly Hills, 90210" star's Toluca Lake neighborhood on Monday night after receiving reports of a series of burglaries in the area.

The suspect is reported to have broken into Priestley's home but did not take anything from his property, according to TMZ.com.

Items stolen from several other homes in the neighborhood were recovered and the male, who has yet to be identified, is currently being held in custody.

Actress Shannen Doherty has confirmed she will appear in a further two episodes of the Beverly Hills, 90210 spin-off series, despite announcing her departure.

Doherty plays the adult incarnation of Brenda Walsh in 90210 - the character she played on the original teen TV series until in 1994. The star initially signed-on to appear in only four episodes of the show, which made its debut in September.

Luke Perry is under pressure to return to Beverly Hills after his beloved TV character Dylan McKay was named the father of Kelly Taylor's son on Beverly Hills, 90210 spin-off 90210 on Tuesday night.

Jason Priestley has refuted reports he will be returning to Beverly Hills, 90210 in the new spin-off series.

Filming is currently underway to bring the program back to small screens, with stars Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling among the actors reprising their original roles.

But Priestley, who played hunk Brandon Walsh in the TV series, insists he has declined offers from The CW to appear in the new show. He says, "I think I sort of ran the gamut with Brandon – 249 episodes. I think Brandon did his time."
