Stars We Lost In 2011
As 2012 approaches, it's appropriate to look back at which stars we lost over the last year. As always, the number of famous names on the list seems astounding. Each one meant something to many people, and their legacies will live on forever in the hundreds of films, TV shows and songs on which they left their mark.

It's impossible to include everyone, but we think these are among the most notable deaths of the year.

Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis joined mourners at the London memorial service for late British actor Pete Postlethwaite and regaled them with tales of their days in acting school.

The There Will Be Blood star joined fellow celebrities Kevin Spacey, Julie Walters and Michael Gambon at a church service on Wednesday in memory of The Usual Suspects actor, who died on January 2 after a long illness.

The Oscar Nominations: Surprises, Snubs And Flubs

As reported earlier, the Oscar nominations were announced this morning. As in recent years, everything went according to plan. There were a few surprise inclusions, but most of them weren’t shocking. And the snubs weren’t too surprising either.

‘The King’s Speech’ led with 12 nominations, more than most predicted. ‘True Grit’ was close behind with a strong 10 – an astonishing turnaround from its ridiculous zero nominations at the Golden Globes – while ‘The Social Network’ trailed with a somewhat disappointing 8 nominations.

Pete Postlethwaite Dead At 64

British actor Pete Postlethwaite has died at the age of 64.

The Oscar-nominated actor passed away peacefully in his sleep at a hospital in Shropshire, England on Sunday following a lengthy illness, a friend tells Sky News.

He had previously battled testicular cancer in the 1990s.

He is survived by his wife Jackie and two children; William and Lily.

'The Constant Gardener' Kenya Premiere To Aid Community

The Constant Gardener
Oscar nominated movie The Constant Gardener is being taken back to Kenya for a charity premiere next week. Producer Simon Channing Williams and actor Pete Postlethwaite will attend the screening in Nairobi in aid of the Constant Gardener Trust. During the trip the pair will also open a school built by the trust in the village of Loyangalani.

Channing Williams says, "I'm delighted to bring the film back to Kenya, the country that was so welcoming to the production, and it is particularly gratifying that the film's premiere will benefit The Constant Gardener Trust."
