This September audiences are in for a slew of independent films that are as different as they are engaging. George Clooney will star in “The American” (Sept. 1), directed by Anton Corbijn whose 2007 film “Control” earned strong praise and attention. The movie is a throwback to the international spy thrillers of the 70s and c...

Joaquin Phoenix Walks The Line Of Reality And Performance Art In Trailer For 'I'm Still Here' (Video)

August 18th, 2010 11:01am EDT
Joaquin Phoenix
Did Joaquin Phoenix really tumble off the edge and let himself go last year? Or did he simply stay "in-character" for several months? The trailer for I'm Still Here: The Lost Year of Joaquin Phoenix offers a sneak peek at what's to come, with little answers.

We are either watching a man's tragic downfall towards Howard Hughes levels of insanity, or a brilliant actor taking on a role of himself in another life. In the trailer we see Phoenix gain weight, allow his hair to grow thick and unkempt along with a beard - but we also see him apparently thrive on the streets, on a speeding boat, and...

Remember in 2008 when Joaquin Phoenix seemed to go off the deep end? He announced his retirement from acting on his knuckles, launched a rap career and grew a pretty awesome looking homeless man beard.

Apparently Magnolia Pictures has acquired the film "I'm Still Here: The Lost Year Of Joaquin Phoenix" which was filmed and directed by brother in law Casey Affleck. The film will hit theaters on September 10 of this year with plans to go wide the following week.

Was the whole thing a prank or was it real? Apparently there is some pretty outlandish stuff in this film that leaves the viewer u...

Joaquin Phoenix's rap career has been put on hold - he will return to the big screen as Edgar Allen Poe, according to Oscar-winning sound engineer Resul Pookutty.

The "Walk The Line" actor quit Hollywood last year, announcing plans to focus on becoming a hip-hop star. He disappeared from the spotlight, only emerging for a string of bizarre TV interviews, which saw him sporting a scraggly beard and giving one-word replies to questions, and a couple of disastrous gigs.

However, "Slumdog Millionaire" sound designer Pookutty has revealed Phoenix is heading back to acting to play iconic Ame...

Val Kilmer makes a triumphant return to the big screen this week in "Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans," an off-kilter project befitting Kilmer's reputation as one of Hollywood's biggest head cases.

Remember, Kilmer may be king of the straight-to-DVD landscape now, but for a while was considered to be one of the leading men in Hollywood. Kilmer was Iceman for crying out loud! H...

Why Anne Hathaway Is The Perfect Choice To Play Judy Garland

Anne Hathaway looks wonderful in all of her magazine pictures, especially when you consider that she's sporting more weight on her shoulders than most actors in Hollywood today. That's because she will play Judy Garland in a bio-picture based on the controversial book by Gerald Clark.

Hathaway is, of course, perfect for the role. Never mind that she can't quite copy the kind of 4-year-old face that became trademark Garland. That's one of those remarkable traits that can't be duplicated. She still has the pouting lips, the miraculous smile, and the charming singing voice. Her face might...
