With 'Constantine,' Harold Perrineau Gets His Wings

October 24th, 2014 12:05pm EDT
With 'Constantine,' Harold Perrineau Gets His Wings
As if Harold Perrineau wasn't cool enough as the bassist of the most underrated TV band, now he's gained supernatural powers as an angelic sidekick on NBC's new drama Constantine. His character Manny is tasked with watching over occult detective John Constantine (played by Matt Ryan, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior) and trying to keep him in line, while the two battle literal forces of darkness.

We caught up with Harold last week to chat about Constantine joining the ranks of DC Comics adaptations on TV, how much Hellblazer reading he had to do, and if he's used to jumping on board new se...

5 TV Actors We're Thankful For In 2013

November 28th, 2013 11:00am EST
Josh Charles, The Good Wife
Thanksgiving is upon us and it's time for us to give our thanks - for the acting performances that make doing what we do worthwhile.

There are so many talented actors and actresses out there that we don't possibly have the space to recognize them all, but here are the five gentlemen who made us thankful that we were around to write about them over the past year, in alphabetical order.

1) Josh Charles, The Good Wife (CBS)

There's nothing sweeter to those of us watching an actor we love swing for the fences, and that's exactly what's been happening with Josh Charles this TV season. America...

'Wedding Band': Last Season's Best New Comedy Comes to DVD

June 27th, 2013 2:15pm EDT
Wedding Band
Turn the music back up! Wedding Band - the best comedy of this past TV season and perhaps one of the best all-time - is now rocking on DVD, thanks to Fox Home Entertainment. Wedding Band: The Complete Series arrived earlier this month.

It's hard to figure out where to start with Wedding Band, because there's so much about it that just works, as a TV show, as music, and as a viewing experience. As a series, it's legitimately funny. Co-creators Josh Lobis and Darin Moiselle hit the comedy sweet spot: it's humor, aimed at adults without having to be crude, that develops naturally instead of t...

'Wedding Band' and 'Sons of Anarchy' Make Harold Perrineau An Emmy Contender

June 12th, 2013 12:15pm EDT
Wedding Band
Harold Perrineau deserves an Emmy Award nomination for his work on Sons of Anarchy. And if he should win - after having one of the best individual years for an actor - TV fans will be saying, "It's about damn time."

He's been "that guy" for a decade and a half, beginning when he played Augustus Hill on HBO's groundbreaking prison drama Oz. Since then, every time you see his name in the credits, it's like getting a visit from an old friend. You know that he's always going to give a watchable performance, whether it's his SAG Award-winning role as Michael Dawson on Lost, his pitch-perfect co...

5 Underappreciated TV Actors: Where Are They Now?

April 14th, 2013 1:00pm EDT
Fairly Legal
In December, I gave you my list of five TV actors deserving of more notice this year. With 2013 more than a quarter of the way over, it's time to check the results. Where are these talented folks now? Did they get the extra attention they should have? And who else is poised to reach the next level?

1. Michael Trucco

You Know Him From: USA's Fairly Legal, Syfy's Battlestar Galactica

Why He Made The List: He was the MVP of Fairly Legal. While Sarah Shahi was deservedly center stage in the USA original series as mediator Kate Reed, he was her perfect foil as Kate's ex-husband and frequent...

Celebrity Valentines for 2013

Adam Levine
Ah, Valentine's Day. It's a holiday all about love. While it's generally taken to be reserved for that special someone in your life, there are other kinds of love, too - like showing some love for your favorite celebrities. Here's BFTV's list of the celebrities I've fallen in love with and why I want to give them a little extra appreciation this year. Not only are they talented at what they do, but they're also pretty fantastic people.

In alphabetical order:

Jamie Bamber: I waited a couple of years to meet the Monday Mornings star, during which I heard from several mutual friends and fans...

In Memoriam: Why 'Wedding Band' Will Be Missed

January 23rd, 2013 7:45am EST
Wedding Band
On Tuesday, TBS pulled the plug on Wedding Band, electing not to renew the comedy for a second season. It's a sad ending for a show BFTV earlier called the best new comedy on television, but it's also an opportunity to celebrate the ride. Here are five reasons why I'll miss rocking out with Mother of the Bride.

1) The music. You can't have a show called Wedding Band without good music, and it was hugely surprising how great the music was - not only because it was catchy, but because it was real. Shepherded by music guru Adam Schlesinger (from Fountains of Wayne and who also wrote the ridic...

TBS's 'Wedding Band' Rocks Saturday Night Television

December 8th, 2012 9:00am EST
Wedding Band
Now there's a great reason to stay home on Saturday nights. TBS's Wedding Band is the best new comedy of the TV season: a show that delivers great laughs, fantastic music and even a few genuinely touching moments.

The premise sounds like standard sitcom fare: it tracks the exploits of the titular band, called Mother of the Bride and made up of lead singer and ladies' man Tommy (Brian Austin Green), guitarist and family man Eddie (Peter Cambor), the drummer who doesn't know they're not rock stars Eddie (Derek Miller), and bassist and session musician Stevie (Harold Perrineau). Often invol...

Former "Lost" star Harold Perrineau is to revamp the "Blade" franchise for a new animated TV series.

The actor will give voice to half-vampire superhero Eric Brooks, played on the big screen by Wesley Snipes, in the latest Marvel TV project.

Perrineau admits he jumped at the chance to be a part of the show because he was a big fan of Snipes' three movies.

Enigmatic Final Scene Of 'LOST' Added By Network - Not Producers

May 27th, 2010 11:05pm EDT
LOST
The final scene shown during ABC's Sunday night broadcast of the "LOST" series finale was added to the show by the network - not executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse - according to a report on Entertainment Weekly.com.

The last images of Oceanic Flight 815 wreckage strewn across the beach with only the soothing sound of crashing waves in the distance quickly became one of the show's biggest mysteries.

But a spokesman for ABC told the L.A. Times, "The images shown during the end credits of the 'Lost' finale, which included shots of Oceanic 815 on a deserted beach, were not p...

You have a lot of questions about Lost and the show's stars and creators have the answers. Well, sort of. In typical Lost fashion, they teased possibilities which only lead to more questions.

"The season premiere picks up right after the finale," said producer Carlton Cuse. "We really don't want to say too much about it."

You will see some old faces again though. "Harold Perrineau will be back on the show this year, if you guys remember from a couple years ago," Cuse revealed.

Series creator Damon Lindelof added another. "While we're on the subject, I think we can probably also an...

Bad Dads & Rad Dads On TV

June 13th, 2008 8:44am EDT
The Brady Bunch
Back when television was young, TV fathers were portrayed as all knowing and in control. Fathers knew best. They dispensed unchallenged wisdom. They were calm and smiling and never seemed pressured by any circumstance. They were always clad in a shirt and tie, even while relaxing at home.

The TV fathers of the 50s and 60s had a ready answer for their children, all who sat with rapt attention to the father's every word. "Gee, Dad," said Wally of Leave It to Beaver, "I never thought about it that way." The Brady kids would also express the same types of revelation after a counseling ses...
