When it comes to young filmmakers with a track record for creating consistently savory work, nobody is more prolific then filmmaker Edgar Wright. Whether it be teaming up with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost for flicks like "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz" or launching off on his own for the cult classic "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" and the upcoming superhero movie "Ant-Man," Wright has proven himself a director with unwavering style and panache. Simon Pegg, Nick Frost And Edgar Wright Talk 'The World's End'

Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Martin Freeman, Eddie Marsan, and Paddy
For British filmmakers Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, the Cornetto is more than just a tasty ice cream treat that comes in three flavours. Because their comedies don’t share connected characters, the Cornetto is one of several delicious thematic elements that ties the movies together. Wright, Pegg and Frost’s two previous films “Shaun of the Dead” and “Hot Fuzz” or flavours if you will, are also united by running jokes, loving homage to specific genres and stories about the power of friendship. The third variety in their series, also known as the Cornetto trilogy, is no different;...

The first trailer for the film was released on Wednesday, promising the second hilarious-looking drinking buddy movie this summer.

The film takes place 20 years after five friends go on an "epic" pub crawl in their hometown that fell short of reaching the ultimate bar called "The World's End," and one of them, Gary King (Pegg), decides to get the guys together ...

Star Trek Into Darkness
Alice Eve shows off her sexy curves in the international trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness in a blink-and-you-missed it moment.

The brief moment has been the talk of the internet lately, and it's obvious that the film's director, J.J. Abrams, knew what he was doing when he released the spot.

Countless screen captures of the moment were taken from Apple and YouTube and thanks to some keen eyes over at TrekMovie.com, that split-second shot actually reveals a web address: bit.ly/WyJV4F.

When followed, viewers are taken to the film's UK/Australian site, where a brand new poster for the fil...

New 'Star Trek Into Darkness' Poster Released, First Trailer Debuts Dec. 6

December 4th, 2012 9:31pm EST
Star Trek Into Darkness
The first artwork for next year's Star Trek sequel, Star Trek Into Darkness, debuted online this week Paramount Pictures' new teaser poster for the film looks awfully familiar.

The highly anticipated sequel to J.J. Abrams' 2009 series reboot looks very similar to the artwork for The Dark Knight Rises, but instead of looking straight up and seeing the bat logo silhouetted in crumbling buildings, this time around we get the Starfleet logo blown out the side of a building (also quite reminiscent of 9/11) with a lone man (Kirk? Spock?) looking out over a city in ruin.

Little else is known abo...

Great Actor/Director Combos For The Release Of 'Dark Shadows'

May 11th, 2012 1:03pm EDT
Dark Shadows
Every artist has their muse, whether it be human, imaginary, or in some cases, drug induced. And while certainly some people might joke that the latter is Tim Burton's muse of choice, given the stye and subject of many of his films, it's become quite clear over the years that he draws inspiration from the people he surrounds himself with. Most notable among them are Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp.

Given that his newest film, "Dark Shadows", marks Burton and Depp's 8th film collaboration, we at Starpulse decided to take a look at some of the other actor/director partnerships that hav...

The War Horse star heard director J.J. Abrams was interested in casting him as the lead villain in the follow-up to his 2009 blockbuster, so he came up with an oddball idea to have a friend film his try-out on his smart phone late one night.

He tells the New York Times, "I was pretty strung out, so that went into the performance."

He submitted the clip to Abrams only to be told by an assistant that the filmmaker was on vacation.

However, when Cumberbatch fina...

Review: Seth Rogen Steals Scenes With Caustic Sarcasm In 'Paul'

March 18th, 2011 12:38pm EDT
Paul
If E.T. spent enough time on Earth adapting to our language and customs, he probably would have become a wisecracking rebel just like Paul, the title character in director Greg Mottola’s latest buddy comedy. This alien with attitude, voiced by the gravelly Seth Rogen, steals scenes with his caustic sarcasm, penchant for practical jokes, and his gross personal habits. Paul is neither naive nor innocent, but his maturity or lack thereof is what makes him so hilarious.

While Rogen is humorous in the film, it helps that Brits Simon Pegg and Nick Frost pen the screenplay for “Paul.” The two...

I saw "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" last week, and I really enjoyed it. Apparently among critics I was in the minority on that one. The film certainly wasn't perfect, but I didn't think it was nearly as bad as people were saying.

The surprising thing for me though, was how divided people's opinions were about it. For the most part I found that people who viewed the film fell into two camps: those that loved it and those that hated it. I didn't really encounter a many people who fell in between.

July starts out a bit slow this week with "Public Enemies," "Ice Age: Dawn of...
