Jason Patric Wins Appeal In Child Custody Case

Jason Patric Wins Appeal In Child Custody Case
Actor Jason Patric has won the latest battle in his bid for custody of his biological son Gus. Over the past year, he and his ex Danielle Schreiber have been fighting over the boy.

Gus was born through artificial insemination, and Schrieber claims that Patric was nothing more than a sperm donor.

Last year, a judge refused Patric's bid for parental rights, ruling that because the actor had donated his sperm to someone who wasn't his wife he had no claim of custody. California law supported her actions because there was no written agreement establishing parental rights prior to conception.

Jason Patric Testifies For Custody Of His Biological Son

August 14th, 2013 5:39pm EDT
Jason Patric
On Tuesday, Jason Patric struggled to maintain his composure while testifying before California's Assembly Judiciary Committee in a bid to gain custody of his son.

The 47 year-old actor has been entangled in a battle with his ex-girlfriend Danielle Schreiber over access to their three-year-old son Gus, after donating sperm to have a baby with her. In 2012, Patric filed for joint custody after the couple's break-up, even though the law only recognizes him as a sperm donor who has no paternity rights.

Earlier this year, after losing the court battle, Patric filed an appeal and now the dis...

Jason Patric
Julia Roberts' ex-boyfriend Jason Patric is fighting for custody of the son he had hoped to keep a secret.

The Speed 2 star donated sperm so his ex-girlfriend Danielle Schreiber could have a baby three years ago, but now he wants to be a proper dad. News of Patric's biological son, Gus, didn't make headlines until now because Schreiber agreed not to tell anyone who the father of her child was.

The couple briefly reconciled last year, and it appears the actor took a liking to his son - because now he has split from his ex again, he wants to be a part of the child's life and he filed lega...

IFF Boston Review: ‘Keyhole’

May 1st, 2012 10:21pm EDT
Keyhole 1
If films like Darren Aronofsky’s “Black Swan” and Terrence Malick’s “Tree of Life” are too strange for you, then for the love of God, stay far away from Guy Maddin’s “Keyhole.” I enjoy the occasional weird flick from time to time, but Maddin’s picture is easily the most bizarre thing I’ve watched in the last few years. And it’s not one of those scenarios where the movie so odd that it’s good. Watching “Keyhole” is like being on drugs. Which specific drugs? Well, all of them.

Trying to summarize exactly what happens in “Keyhole” using my own words is pretty difficult, so I’m going to par...

Transformers 2
With the two mega number twos including "The Hangover Part II" and "Kung Fu Panda 2" hitting theaters this week, it got us thinking about movie sequels of the past - good AND bad. So in a Starpulse salute to the bold and not so beautiful world of second cinematic outings, we’re going to jump feet first into both the daring and depressing realm of all things part two.

Tomorrow will feature the best of the bunch, but today’s focus is the real 'winners' of the group. (Yeah right!) A bunch of second rate, highly laughable, easily forgettable and downright detestable flicks that almost make...

Starpulse's Explosive Summer Movie Preview

May 1st, 2009 10:06am EDT
Star Trek
Since the dawn of the American cinematic blockbuster in the late 1970s and early 1980s, moviegoers have eagerly waited for May - the unofficial beginning of summertime. This summer is no different. Films, and most popular media, are social mirrors, and this summer season supports that. The large box office contenders all deal with very similar themes: escapism and the support of the lone, outlaw hero figure (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Star Trek, Terminator Salvation, Up, Transformers 2, Public Enemies, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, Inglourious Basterds, et...

Mr. and Mrs. Smith

Julia Roberts and Kiefer Sutherland's hearts skipped a beat while filming Flatliners (1990). Tom Cruise admired a young Aussie actress named Nicole Kidman and had her cast opposite him in Days of Thunder. The movie Seven ended with Gwynet...

Movie Sequels: A List Of The Best & Worst

February 7th, 2008 9:40am EST
Spider-Man 2
It seems every year we are inundated with dozens of sequels to films we love and those we've already forgotten about. But what are the best? What are the worst? What shouldn't have been made and what beat the original? Answers to those questions are below, but before a list of the best and worst sequels is determined a few ground rules must be established.

1. The Sequel Cannot Be Planned. There are plenty of movies where the sequel is somewhat planned (I highly doubt anybody wasn't thinking sequel during Spider-Man) but some movies are part of a planned series from day one. The mo...
