Is CGI Technology Enough Of A Reason To Remake 'Clash Of The Titans'?

March 31st, 2010 9:08am EDT
Clash of the Titans
As audiences get set for the update of "Clash of the Titans," many hardcore fans of the classic fantasy film are letting loose with that familiar cry of heresy. Sure, digital effects can look more "real" than the rubber and clay monsters created by legendary stop-motion animator Ray Harryhausen for the 1981 original, but better? "Better" is a subjective term.

Ask "Star Wars" geeks which Yoda they prefer. When Luke Skywalker landed on Dagobah in 1981's "The Empire Strikes Back," the Yoda he encountered was a foam and latex puppet, voiced and manipulated by Frank Oz. The "real" Jedi Master ...

Vincent Kartheiser
The critically acclaimed and Emmy award winning series "Mad Men" is returning for its third season (Sunday, August 16 at 10 p.m. on AMC). Vincent Kartheiser, who plays the dastardly, at times, Pete Campbell -- who we last saw left alone on his office couch, rejected by Peggy Olsen (Elisabeth Moss) after being told that he not only had a child with her, but she had given the child away -- joins us to discuss the motivations behind Pete's actions and looks ahead to this upcoming third season.

Mike: I want your opinion on this. Why do I, in this weird way and I don't think I'm supposed to, ...

'Star Wars: The Clone Wars' Boldly Goes Animated With Potent Story, Mediocre Animation, Anemic Acting

August 15th, 2008 9:47am EDT
Star Wars: The Clone Wars
(HollywoodChicago.com) – “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” which is the inaugural animated “Star Wars” project from Lucasfilm Animation and “Star Wars” architect George Lucas, feels and looks every bit as introductory as a foundational attempt could be.

In many ways, the film again typifies what every “Star Wars” film always does. We’re again treated to yet another compelling storyline. Despite public perception that Lucas declared three years ago that the decades-long “Star Wars” saga has come to an end, Lucas now clarifies.

Jedi Anakin Skywalker (Matt Lanter) prepares for battle i...

The Number-One Movie You Probably Should See That You Probably Haven't

October 10th, 2007 1:21pm EDT
Death at a Funeral
It's Friday night and I'm sitting in a movie theater doing something I just never do anymore: coming back for more. There was a time as a kid that I would zero in on a film, greedily lop it up, and follow it with lustful obsession. It's a pro of being a child - the ability to fully submerge oneself in a world and never let go.

I'm guilty as charged for such films as Star Wars Episode I, hardly a masterpiece, and Clueless (I had an older sister, cut me some slack). It's rarely the mark of a fantastic film and more often the score of fantasy capturing the imagination, whether that's th...
