No Butts About It: 30 Celebrity Smokers

10/9/2014 2:07pm EDT
No Butts About It: 30 Celebrity Smokers
Everyone knows smoking is bad, but many celebrities can't help lighting up. Maybe they have a tough time quitting the habit, or perhaps they smoke to keep off the weight. A cheeseburger is worse than a cigarette, right?

It may surprise you that some of these stars smoke - others you won't find so shocking.

Keira Knightley is a smoker, and it's probably part of the reason why she's so thin. She's also been accused of having an eating disorder. Early in 2014 she admitted that her grandmother and great-grandmother had anorexia but denied suffering from the disease herself. Either way, both h...

Celebrities That Turn 50 In 2014

Sandra Bullock
Welcome to day two of 2014! Looking back in time 50 years ago, the year was 1964. Major events of that year included President Johnson being re-elected by a landslide over Barry Goldwater. The investigation of John F. Kennedy's assassination by the Warren Commission concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in the killing of the President. In the civil rights movement, three workers were murdered in Mississippi during the "Freedom Summer," and Anchorage, Alaska was hit by a massive earthquake.

In pop culture, Beatlemania had officially hit North America and on February 9 of that year, s...

Clive Owen Trapped In Elevator In Cannes

5/27/2012 4:43pm EDT
Clive Owen
British actor Clive Owen canceled a number of appointments at the Cannes Film Festival this week after he was trapped in an elevator with his daughters.

The Sin City star attended the French movie event to promote his new film Hemingway & Gellhorn with co-star Nicole Kidman, but the trip took a turn for the worse when he got stuck in a packed lift at the Hotel Majestic Barriere.

Owen was with his two young daughters Hannah and Eve and two people had fainted by the time they were freed, according to Britain's The Sun.

The actor then canceled a number of press interviews so he could comfor...

Spotted: Mila Kunis & Clive Owen Kissing!

5/12/2012 10:00am EDT
Blood Ties
Don't get too excited - Mila Kunis and Clive Owen aren't really hooking up. They're making a film together. We spotted them locking lips on the set of "Blood Ties" on location in New York City yesterday.

In the film, two brothers, on either side of the law, face off over organized crime in Brooklyn during the 1970s. Zoe Saldana, James Caan and Billy Crudup also star.

Mila has reportedly been hooking up with her former "That 70s Show" co-star Ashton Kutcher, though she has insisted the two of them are just friends.

Clive Owen has been married since 1995 and has two daughters.

Fresnadillo's 'Intruders' Creates Solid Suspense But Lacks Punchy Ending

3/30/2012 1:26pm EDT
Intruders Poster
Boogeymen might be overdone in horror, but every so often a genre film like Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s “Intruders,” makes one of these monsters seem remarkably fresh and incredibly creepy. What Fresnadillo lacks in the originality of his premise, he strives to compensate for with suspenseful visual tricks and some inventive plot devices cooked up by his screenwriters Nicolás Casariego and Jaime Marques. Fresnadillo largely succeeds in crafting a skin crawling tale with these means, although he does stumble a bit along the way.

“Intruders” concentrates on two children in different countries...

Trailer Talk: This Week in Movies
Last week I was lucky enough to see an advanced screening of the Drew Goddard/Joss Whedon horror flick “The Cabin in the Woods,” which took SXSW by storm. I won’t comment on it just yet, but I will say that I’m excited to be interviewing two of its stars, Kristen Connolly and Fran Kranz, in the coming days. Keep your eyes peeled for my write up.

Big budget franchise season arrived last week with the premiere of “The Hunger Games,” and continues this week with the release of the Greek action sequel “Wrath of the Titans.” Also coming out this week are the light-hearted Snow White picture...

Clive Owen Loves The Food, Wine & People In Madrid

3/24/2012 2:30pm EDT
Clive Owen
Clive Owen fell in love with Madrid's food and wine culture while he was shooting his new movie "Intruders" in the Spanish capital.

The British actor admits he now returns to the city whenever he can, just to satisfy his new-found appreciation of the best things in life.

Owen tells, "The food was fantastic. That was the biggest culture shock. I've been back to Madrid maybe eight times since finishing this film, and I have to be honest; it's primarily to eat!

"The food in that town is so good and the whole crew, they really knew how to live... All they wanted to talk abo...

Review: 'Killer Elite' An Action Thriller Weighed-Down By Too Much Exposition

9/22/2011 7:00pm EDT
Killer Elite
On the surface "Killer Elite" seems to have all the right cinema stuff; a stellar cast, a story based on engaging real-life events and a cool overall action tone. So what went wrong? Problem is that in adapting the Sir Ranulph Fiennes 1991 novel The Feather Man somebody forgot to tell screenwriter Matt Sherring that "Killer Elite" was actually going to be a motion picture.

Leading action man Jason Statham plays a hitman who decides to get out of the business, but when his partner (Robert De Niro) is kidnapped and held for job ransom, he finds himself smack dab in the middle of the action...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'Moneyball,' 'Abduction,' & More

9/19/2011 11:00am EDT
Last week I didn’t screen any new movies, but I had a chance to conduct some awesome interviews. I talked with Jonah Hill on Monday about his role in “Moneyball” and Seth Rogen on Wednesday for his upcoming film “50/50.” Look out this week for my Jonah Hill interview and the next for mine with Seth Rogen.

Hollywood loves movies inspired by true stories this week, since they represent four of the six opening in theaters. You’ll have the opportunity to see the Brad Pitt baseball vehicle “Moneyball,” the Taylor Lautner espionage thriller “Abduction,” the Gerard Butler redemption tale “Mac...

'Sin City' Sequel In The Works

7/22/2011 2:34pm EDT
Sin City
Director Robert Rodriguez is heading back to the big screen with a sequel to his hit movie Sin City.

The 2005 film, based on the graphic novel by Frank Miller, boasted an all-star cast with appearances from Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Clive Owen and Jessica Alba, and it won over cinema audiences and critics.

Rodriguez has long wanted to make a sequel, and he used an appearance at the Comic-Con convention in California on Thursday to announce the follow-up is nearly ready to go.

The moviemaker revealed the Sin City 2 script is almost finished, while he also announced plans for two seq...

David Schwimmer Refuses To Change Contentious 'Trust' Scenes

12/21/2010 1:19pm EST
David Schwimmer
David Schwimmer is refusing to alter his controversial new film Trust even if he loses his fight to secure the movie a lower age rating, insisting regulators need to update their "old" system.

The Friends star steps behind the camera to direct Clive Owen and Catherine Keener in the harrowing film about a teenager lured to a motel for sex by an online predator old enough to be her father. The swearing and adult themes landed the movie a restrictive R-rating in America, meaning viewers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Schwimmer and his team are fighting for a lower age...

Clive Owen & Model Eugenia Silva Sex Up Whisky Launch

10/21/2010 1:00pm EDT
Clive Owen
Clive Owen attended the launch of Chivas Regal's new 12 whisky accompanied by model Eugenia Silva in Madrid. We can see why Chivas picked such a sexy pair to promote their brand!

Clive stars in the upcoming film "The Killer Elite" about a former Navy Seal who is forced out of retirement in order to save his friend. He also stars in "Hemingway & Gellhorn" opposite Nicole Kidman.

The drama is centered on the romance between Ernest Hemingway and WWII correspondent Martha Gellhorn, Hemingway's inspiration for "For Whom the Bell Tolls" and the only woman who ever asked for a divorce from the w...

David Schwimmer Left Unsettled After Sex Predator Research

9/14/2010 8:18pm EDT
David Schwimmer
Former "Friends" star David Schwimmer was stunned to find many sex predators are family men while researching his creepy new movie "Trust."

The actor directs Clive Owen and Catherine Keener in the harrowing film about a teenager lured to a motel for sex by an online predator old enough to be her father, and he trawled through FBI records to learn more about the sick minds he was dealing with.

But he didn't expect to find fathers and husbands in among the sickos prowling for sex with minors in cyberspace.

Schwimmer, who is a longtime activist with the Rape Foundation in Santa Monica, Cali...

Can Jennifer Aniston Redeem Herself With 'The Switch'?

8/18/2010 11:00am EDT
the switch
This weekend “The Switch,” starring Jennifer Aniston, will open in theaters and if early reviews are an indicator, Aniston has yet another flop on her hands. Aniston, who was once a promising leading lady, has become a punch line for moviegoers who are as likely to expect good movies from her as they are a decent stand-up act from Carrot Top.

There was a time when Hollywood and fans expected great things from Aniston who was riding high from the success of “Friends.” Aniston’s only real quality films have been the few independent movies she did early in her career. Without argument, “The G...

Elizabeth Taylor Slams Biopic Rumors

7/23/2010 8:38am EDT
Elizabeth Taylor
Elizabeth Taylor has dismissed reports Angelina Jolie and Catherine Zeta-Jones are battling it out to portray her in a movie biopic, insisting no actress will be allowed to take the part during her lifetime.

Rumors began swirling earlier this month linking the two Oscar winners to a film adaptation of Sam Kashner and Nancy Schoenberger's book Furious Love: Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, and the Marriage of the Century. Russell Crowe, Clive Owen and Colin Farrell were among the big names being suggested as possible Burtons, while Mike Nichols was named as a favored director.

Spotlight On Clive Owen

11/21/2009 11:00am EST
Clive Owen
Born in Coventry, West Midlands, England in October 1965, actor Clive Owen is the quintessential handsome man. Put him in any movie looking dapper and sharp or get him rolling around in the mud and dirt and he'll still come up looking amazing.

Clive has not always been on the fast track when it comes to his acting career. Starting in 1988 through 2000, he appeared and sometimes starred in a number of British television series, TV movies and films. One of those notable films was "Croupier" (1997) where he played a troubled writer who begins to work in a casino in hopes of acquiring ins...

Victoria Silvstedt Talks Playboy, Fame & Her One Unsexy Habit

5/7/2009 12:15pm EDT
Victoria Silvstedt
Starpulse had the pleasure of interviewing Victoria Silvstedt this week, and we found that there is more to this nearly 6-foot blond than meets the eye. Victoria started competitively skiing at the age of 4, became Playboy's Playmate of the Year in 1997, and landed a Guess? Jeans campaign in 1998. She has since appeared in many movies, made her own pop album, and stars in her own reality TV show on E! 'Victoria Silvstedt: My Perfect Life'.

Victoria doesn't take herself too seriously and even pokes fun at herself- when really she should be patting herself on the back for creating a one...

The Best & Worst Of Julia Roberts

3/27/2009 9:26am EDT
Mary Reilly
As one of the highest paid actresses in the world, it is no surprise that Julia Roberts has a long and varied career to admire. She started out as a romantic comedy charmer, and she has done several of them even after her vast popularity, but eventually Roberts moved into more dramatic filmmaking and huge box office hits.

She was the first actress to be on the cover of Vogue, and she is undoubtedly considered one of America's Sweethearts, so much so that she actually starred in a movie of the same name! Beautiful, intelligent, well spoken, and hard working, Roberts has been in a numbe...

Spy Movies: Which One Is Your Favorite?

3/23/2009 10:52am EDT
The movie Duplicity starring Clive Owen and Julia Roberts hit theaters this weekend. In the film, Owen, a former MI-6 agent, and Roberts, a former CIA agent, work together on a project, but neither feels they can completely trust each other. The word duplicity means to conceal one's true intentions by deceptive words or actions, and the title seems very fitting. The release is sure to be one of the more popular movies of the spring, and it got Starpulse thinking about the best spy movies.

One of the most entertaing spy movies is Arnold Schwarzenegger's True Lies, where he plays ...
