Stephen Fry Says Americans Are 'Fooled' by British Actors' Accents
British actors excel in Hollywood because Americans are "fooled" and seduced by their accents, according to celebrated thespian Stephen Fry. Brits Helen Mirren, Jeremy Irons, Bill Nighy, Emily Blunt and Hugh Laurie all won prizes during the recent Hollywood awards season.
And Fry claims the spate of British successes is down to the way the actors speak.
He says, "I shouldn't be saying this, high treason really, but I sometimes wonder if Americans aren't fooled by our accent into detecting a brilliance that may not really be there. I mean, would they notice if Jeremy Irons or Ju...

Makers Of "Shaun Of The Dead" Bring New Comedy "Hot Fuzz" To The U.S. April 20
Hot Fuzz is the action-packed new comedy from the makers of the hit movie Shaun of the Dead. With the same razor-sharp combination of humor and attention to detail they used to breathe new life into the undead, Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright have set their sights on action movies for their next uniquely funny vision.
Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) is the finest cop London has to offer, with an arrest record 400% higher than any other officer on the force. He's so good, he makes everyone else look bad. As a result, Angel's superiors send him to a place where his talents won't be quite so emba...

Interview With Cate Blanchett, Richard Eyre, And Patrick Marber On 'Notes on a Scandal'
There are not many bigger taboos in society than a teacher entering into an affair with an underage pupil and, for some reason, when it is a female teacher seducing a male pupil even more eyebrows are raised. In Notes on a Scandal such an illicit romance is explored through the characters of Bohemian art teacher Sheba Hart, played by Cate Blanchett, and her 15-year-old lover Steven Connolly, portrayed by newcomer Andrew Simpson.
And, under the superb direction of Richard Eyre, what could be a rather crude exploration of a seductress taking advantage of a vulnerable schoolboy is sensiti...

Keith Richards Showed Up Drunk for 'Pirates' Role
Keith Richards' appearance in the second Pirates Of The Caribbean sequel descended into chaos after he reportedly got so drunk on the movie set, the film's director had to prop him up. The hellraising Rolling Stones guitarist finally shot his long awaited cameo as Johnny Depp's father in Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End earlier this summer, but he is unlikely to remember the occasion.
Bill Nighy, who plays Davy Jones in the film, tells Empire Online that Richards was inebriated by the time the production team retrieved him from his trailer to shoot his scene, and he required a...

Chinese Censors Reject 'Dead Man's Chest'
Chinese censors have refused to allow Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest to be released in the Asian country. The Film Bureau is worried about the film's depiction of 'the souls of the dead' and Bill Nighy's character Davy Jones, who boasts an "octopus face."
However, the Johnny Depp-starring blockbuster could still secure a release if it passes a second round of examination.
A Disney spokesperson in Hong Kong says, "Regarding Pirates, we are still gathering information from the Film Bureau and so at this point we cannot comment."
