'Glee' Spin-Off Series Canceled After Firing Controversy

7/30/2011 3:00pm EDT
Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy axed plans to create a spin-off for its leading stars after becoming incensed when actor Chris Colfer alleged he'd been "fired" from the hit TV musical.

The writer recently stunned fans when he told The Hollywood Reporter that Colfer and his co-stars Lea Michele and Cory Monteith would not return to the show after its upcoming third season. Murphy revealed the actors would 'graduate' from the TV high school, but kept his plans for a secondary series for Colfer, Michele and Monteith a secret as he'd yet to finalize details.

The interview caused a stir online w...

Lea Michele
A Glee producer has assured fans Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Cory Monteith will pop up in future episodes after they officially leave the show next year.

Co-creator Ryan Murphy recently revealed the popular stars, who play talented high school students, would "graduate" at the end of the third season later this year.

However, executive producer Brad Falchuk used his appearance at Comic-Con in San Diego, California on Sunday to clear up the reports.

He explains, "They are not done with the show after this season. Because they're graduating doesn't mean they're leaving the show. If yo...

7/14/2011 9:15am EDT
"Glee" creator Ryan Murphy has confirmed reports three of his stars will be departing the show after they graduate next year.

Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Cory Monteith will return to the show that made them household names - as talented high school kids - later this year for a third season, and they won't be back.

Murphy tells The Hollywood Reporter, "We made that decision and I involved Chris and Lea and they thought that was a good idea. They both trust the writing and trust me and felt that it would be great to have an open and closed experience for them to go out while they were on ...

'Glee' Cast To Be Replaced By New Actors Next Year

6/21/2011 11:24am EDT
Glee cast
The current cast of "Glee" including Lea Michele and Cory Monteith will be replaced in 2012.

The musical TV hit, set in a high school, has taken the world by storm since it first aired in 2009, and has made stars of castmembers including Michele, Monteith, Chris Colfer and Dianna Agron.

But to maintain the series' realism, creator Ryan Murphy has decided the current class should graduate in 2012 and leave the show for good.

In an interview on Ryan Seacrest's radio show, he says, "That is true. I don't think of it in terms of eliminating or replacing. Because I think the thing about this ...

'Glee' Movie To Be One Big Tribute To Mystery Act

5/12/2011 9:13pm EDT
Glee creator Ryan Murphy has landed permission to pay homage to one of his favourite acts - and it has inspired him to create a TV movie.

The writer/director has already filmed Glee tribute episodes inspired by Lady Gaga, Britney Spears and Fleetwood Mac - and now he has been given the go ahead to reimagine the music of another major act.

Murphy is not revealing who the cast will cover for his Glee movie, but he tells The Hollywood Reporter, "We'll make a two-hour television movie out of it.

"I don't want to reveal what the tribute is about, but we finally got permission."

'Glee' Creator Regrets Kings Of Leon Feud

4/4/2011 1:34pm EDT
Ryan Murphy
Glee creator Ryan Murphy has moved to end his feud with Kings Of Leon by voicing his regret over the foul-mouthed fall-out and insisting he completely "supports" the band's decision to opt out of the show.

The boss behind the musical TV series became embroiled in a public spat with the rock group after he labeled them "self-centered a**holes" for refusing to let their songs feature in Glee.

Kings of Leon drummer Nathan Followill fuelled the fall-out by writing a rude post on, telling Murphy to "Let it go. See a therapist, get a manicure, buy a new bra. Zip your lip and focus...

Dave Grohl Slams 'Glee' Creator Ryan Murphy

3/18/2011 8:55am EDT
Foo Fighters
Foo Fighters star Dave Grohl has lashed out at Glee creator Ryan Murphy for assuming all musicians are desperate to feature on the hit show.

The rocker isn't a fan of the high school singing and dancing program and insists he wouldn't want to follow in the footsteps of Madonna and Britney Spears, who have had their songs used in the series.

And Grohl is fed up with Murphy slamming stars if they decide to not sign up to Glee.

He tells the Hollywood Reporter, "You shouldn't have to do f**king Glee. And then the guy who created Glee is so offended that we're not, like, begging to be on hi...

3/1/2011 12:31pm EST
Elton John
Elton John is set to follow in the footsteps of Gwyneth Paltrow and Britney Spears with a role in Glee - he's in talks with the show's creator for a cameo.

The Rocket Man pleaded with Ryan Murphy for a role in the hit program earlier this year, saying, "I love Glee! I would love to be on Glee, but you have to be asked to be on Glee."

And his public appeal has seemingly worked - he and Murphy have discussed the possibility of the singer appearing in an upcoming episode, according to Matthew Morrison, who recently recorded a track with Elton.

He tells Access Hollywood, "He and Ryan Murp...

Glee creator Ryan Murphy is on the warpath again - he's taken aim at Slash for snubbing the chance to have his Guns N' Roses songs included in the hit show, branding the rocker "stupid".

The writer is currently feuding with the Kings Of Leon after calling them "self-centered a**holes" for refusing to let their hit Use Somebody be featured on the program.

Slash revealed earlier this month that he had rejected a suggestion for a Guns N' Roses-themed Glee episode, saying, "We got asked about that (Glee) once already but it got turned down... Glee is worse than Grease and Grease is bad enough...

1/27/2011 8:35am EST
Kings of Leon
Kings Of Leon rocker Nathan Followill has apologized for lashing out at "Glee's" Ryan Murphy after the writer/director accused him of homophobia during an ongoing spat about music licensing for the show.

The band angered Murphy last year when they declined producers' requests to allow them to feature the hit "Use Somebody" on the show.

Murphy recently admitted he's still sore about the snub, telling The Hollywood Reporter, "F**k you, Kings of Leon. They're self-centred a**holes, and they missed the big picture.

The Devil Wears Prada star is a longtime fan of the all-singing, all-dancing program, and last year revealed she wants to play a long lost relative of Chris Colfer's gay character Kurt Hummel.

In an interview, she said, "In my head, I've cast myself in Glee and I know what song I'm going to sing! I would wanna play Kurt's long-lost aunt's mother's sister who is also gay, (who) comes back to help him deal with his sexuali...

12/29/2010 2:07pm EST
Javier Bardem
Javier Bardem has a lot of good things in his life to think about. He’s married to Penelope Cruz with a baby on the way. He’s an Oscar winner with more blockbusters and art films on the way. He’s even in talks for a guest spot on Glee. Bardem’s latest film got him thinking about all the profound themes of life and love.

Biutiful is not a happy film. It stars Bardem as Uxbal, a man dying of cancer with a psychic connection to the afterlife. In his final months, his sweatshop business runs into trouble and his bipolar ex-wife returns to complicate things with his kids. The point of the film ...

Javier Bardem
Oscar winner Javier Bardem is still waiting to add a little Glee to his life - but fears his awful singing voice has put producers off.

The Spanish actor was slated to play a rock star on the hit TV show, but he reveals he has yet to film his guest spot.

Bardem tells, "I want to do it. I told (creator) Ryan Murphy several times I want to play this heavy metal rock 'n' roll star, but I don't think he has the guts to do it... because I sing really bad. I think that's the whole point."

"We had a blast figuring out what I could be... but I haven't received any script. So when ...

Don't Cry For 'Glee'... When It's This Good!

12/1/2010 3:14pm EST
For sectionals this year, Will is determined to prove how self-aware ‘Glee’ can be. Critics concerned about how overexposed Lea Michele is and how underutilized Heather Morris is, Will has got your back. Folks, who would be happy listening to Lea Michele sing the phone book every week, Santana’s going to taunt you with “Yentl” references and torture Rachel with revelations on the true status of Finn’s virginity. (For those who missed it, Santana took it in the middle of a wonderfully entertaining tribute to Madonna.)

The news doesn’t exactly help boost morale for the glee club, although it...

'Glee' Recap: Rocking The Horror Show

10/27/2010 11:07am EDT
rocky horror
Coming into “The Rocky Horror Glee Show,” my expectations were not particularly high. My familiarity with the source material began and ended with the iconic singing red lips and in general, I’m not a huge fan of “the Halloween episode.” I just don’t look forward to that week when shows decide to ignore every story arc they’ve set up just to put their characters into some stylized parody of a horror movie. Therefore, I was thrilled to see that this week’s installment of “Glee” actually felt more like an episode of “Glee” than an unintentionally rocky, well… horror show.

The storyline of ‘...
