April 9,08 I received an email from my city hall with this subject title: "Campaign Walks and Eddie Murphy" I asked myself, "Is Eddie Murphy doing a fundraiser for the Republican candidate of our district; I didn’t know Eddie Murphy was a Republican?" But after reading through the message, I found that the Republican candidate was merely using the celebrity status of Eddie Murphy’s name to allure people to come to the wine tasting Republican Party fundraiser in a house that Eddie Murphy once owned. Is it proper to use a celebrity’s name to promote a political party fundraiser? The come-on subject title and title for the event (as shown below) seem to imply that Eddie Murphy will be at the event this weekend or that he has something to do with the Republican Party fundraiser for AD10. Somebody, please ask Eddie Murphy if he is going to be at this Event this weekend or if he is promoting the Republican Party candidate and fundraiser? This is what the email notice stated: Huge Eddie Murphy "Shrek" Event this Weekend! The David Sander campaign for AD10 is going a bit "uptown" this weekend - holding a fundraiser at the spectacular estate once owned by famed comedian Eddie Murphy (Beverly Hills Cop, 48 Hours, Shrek) now owned by businessman Patrick Willis. The event is only $250 and will feature wines from Lodi, Amador and El Dorado County along with eclectic food from BeachHut deli. | I think Eddie Murphy is an icon in the film industry. He is the greatest actor and comedian of all-time. I love Eddie Murphy. Edward Regan Murphy was born on April 3, 1961 in Long Island, New York. In 1980, at the age of 19, he joined the cast of Saturday Night Live. He starred in his first film, 48 Hours in 1982. He starred in Trading Places in 1983. Also in 1983, he performed his first stand-up special, Eddie Murphy Delirious, where he made controversial remarks about gays, AIDs, and singers. He left Saturday Night Live in 1984 to pursue his acting full time. Also in 1984, he starred in Best Defense and Beverly Hills Cop. In 1985, he became an R&B singer and released his debut album, How Could It Be, which is best known for the song, Party All The Time, which featured, Murphy's friend and R&B singer, Rick James, who wrote and produced the song. He also hosted the 1985 MTV Video Music Awards. In 1986, he starred in The Golden Child. In 1987, he performed another stand-up special, Eddie Murphy Raw, starred in Beverly Hills Cop 2, and released his second album, So Happy. In 1988, he starred in Coming To America, which is the first film where he played multiple characters. In 1989, he hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live and starred in Harlem Nights. In 1990, he starred in Another 48 Hours. In 1991, he hosted the MTV Video Music Awards and was featured in Michael Jackson's music video for Remember The Time.
