The Grey
Liam Neeson stars in producer/director Joe Carnahan's tense adventure thriller "The Grey" about a group of tough-as-nails oil rig workers who must fight for their lives in the Alaskan wilderness after their airplane crashes miles from civilization.

With supplies running short and hungry wolves closing in, the shaken survivors face a fate worse than death if they don't act fast. It's a tense countdown as the survivors try to outrun and outwit the fierce animals who hunt them down one at a time.

Dermot Mulroney, Dallas Roberts, and Frank Grillo co-star. The film raked in $20 million during ...

Two Jews' Review 'Big Miracle' And Have A Whale Of A Time (Video)

February 2nd, 2012 2:00pm EST
Big Miracle
Two Jews on Film - By Joan Alperin Schwartz: Before I sat down to watch 'Big Miracle' directed by Ken Kwapis, I knew two things. That I was going to cry and that I was going to love this film. And I am happy to report... that's exactly what happened.

'Big Miracle' is a true story that takes place in 1988.

Regan is about to leave office and he's worried that his spotty environmental record will hurt the chances of George Bush Sr. from getting elected.
The Cold War is on the verge of ending, but Russia and the U.S. are far from being BFF'S.

Two Jews' Review 'The Grey' And Feel The Power Of The Wolf (Video)

January 25th, 2012 12:00pm EST
The Grey
Two Jews on Film - By Joan Alperin Schwartz: It takes a lot for a film to truly scare me. I mean, after seeing hundreds and hundreds of movies featuring, knife wielding masked maniacs, cannibalistic nuclear families preying on hot teenage girls and demon possessed embryos, I've become kind of blasé about the horror genre.

So many horror films are durative of one another. But I'm happy to say this is definitely not the case with 'The Grey' directed by Joe Carnahan ('Narc', 'The A Team') and starring the very tall and always excellent, Liam Neeson.

The story is simple. A group of sup...

Trailer Talk: This Week in Movies
I loved last week’s Steven Soderbergh movie “Haywire.” It’s a visually stunning picture with cool music, and a strong, sexy female protagonist to boot. For elaboration on my thoughts, check out my review, if you haven’t already.

Dropping into theaters this week is the frosty Liam Neeson thriller “The Grey,” the high-rise standoff “Man on a Ledge,” the Glenn Close period piece “Albert Nobbs,” the Katherine Heigl action comedy “One for the Money,” the historical drama “In Darkness,” and the foreign drama “Declaration of War.”

Look out later this week for my interview with “Man on...

Two Jews' Review 'J. Edgar' And Duke It Out Over Eastwood's Biopic (Video)

November 8th, 2011 1:00pm EST
J. Edgar
Two Jews on Film - By Joan Alperin-Schwartz: Every once in awhile, you experience a performance by an actor that simply blows your mind. That's exactly what happened to me, when I watched Leonardo DiCaprio portray J. Edgar Hoover in Clint Eastwood's new film, 'J. Edgar.'

What makes a great performance are the subtle things an actor does. Things that inform the character… a gesture, a look, body language, the tilt of the head. DiCaprio obviously understands this because he absolutely nails the part.

Equally brilliant, is Armie Hammer (The Social Network) as Clyde Tolson, Hoover's long ti...

'Rockford Files' Reboot Shelved

Rockford Files
Plans to reboot 1970s TV drama "The Rockford Files" have been shelved for a second time after producer David Shore was forced to return to writing duties on his hit medical drama "House."

Shore had planned to script and produce a rejuvenated "Rockford Files," which originally starred James Garner as private investigator Jim Rockford, and was rumored to be in talks to sign up "Lost" hunk Josh Holloway for the lead role.

However, after a huge section of the new "House" series was scrapped at the last minute, creator Shore had to return to help re-structure the season, leaving his new projec...

'Inhale' Review: 'Two Jews On Film' Have Fun With 'Inhale' (Video)

October 19th, 2010 4:01pm EDT
"Inhale" directed by award winning filmmaker, Baltasar Kormakur stars Dermot Mulroney, who risks everything to get his daughter, Chloe (Mia Stallard) a much needed lung transplant. The wonderful, Diane Kruger plays Chloe's mother. Rounding out the cast is is Sam Shepherd, Rosanna Arquette, Vincent Perez and Jordi Molla. 'Inhale' takes us through the dark, ugly and at times, deadly world of organ trafficking. How far would you go to obtain an organ for your dying child? That's the question you're left with as you leave the theater.

Hereafter
I saw last week’s action film “Red” starring Bruce Willis, Mary-Louise Parker, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren, and Brian Cox. While it’s not the most exciting in terms of special effects, the cast of the movie alone more than makes up for it. They all have an incredible rapport that makes them actually seem like old friends. Check out my review here if you haven’t already.

Hitting the box office this week are the highly anticipated sequel “Paranormal Activity 2,” the supernatural Clint Eastwood drama “Hereafter,” and the life or death thriller “Inhale.”

Hot Mistletoe Kisses

Here are the top male celebrities we wouldn't mind being under the mistletoe with. Pucker up!

Ryan Gosling - The Academy Award nominated actor is as talented as he is adorable. He can sing and sweep the girls off our feet. Amazing.

Jon Hamm - Could this guy get any more dapper? We wish there were more Don Drapers (Mad Men) out there today, except they wouldn...
