Matthew Modine
Eco-warrior Matthew Modine wants kids to get on their bikes and pedal to school.

The Full Metal Jacket star fears Americans are too wasteful when it comes to gasoline and he'd like the government to be more forceful about rationing fuel.

He tells Paper magazine, "I would ban any frivolous use of gasoline. I would also enforce gas rationing on all citizens, encouraging carpooling and investment in the infrastructure of our country with light rail, trains and trolley systems.

"(And we should be) encouraging young people to ride bikes to school instead of buses and cars."

November 16th, 2011 9:00am EST
Matthew Modine
Director Christopher Nolan scrapped plans to film scenes for his new Batman film amid the Occupy Wall Street protests in New York because he didn't want to "trivialize" the demonstrations.

The Dark Knight Rises star Matthew Modine admits he was thrilled to hear he would be shooting scenes in Manhattan's Zuccotti Park around the chaos of the Occupy movement, because it would aid the financially-strapped activists.

However, he thinks Nolan made the right decision not to film there. Modine tells Indiewire.com, "It seemed like a good idea to give (the protesters) an opportunity for work (as...

Carmelo Mania in New York

February 24th, 2011 12:01pm EST
Carmelo Anthony
Melo madness reached its tipping last night as he finally made his debut in Madison Square Garden. After starting slow in the first half, Anthony got it going in the second. When his new partner in crime Amar’e Stoudemire fouled out, it was Anthony who would make two clutch baskets down the stretch to give the Knicks the win. Melo was only 10 for 25 accounting for 27 points and also had 10 boards but it was more about the shots that did fall compared to the ones that didn’t. This was a night to remember in the garden as it was a culmination from all the chaos that has surrounded Anthony for...

Biggest Box Office Flops

August 5th, 2008 9:26am EDT
Cutthroat Island
Movies tank all of the time. Just last weekend the new X-Files movie only managed to make a few dozen live chickens at the box office. Still that's not too bad, not really. Gillian Anderson might have some trouble getting work, but she's probably happy knowing that people still recognize her name. Some movies get a lot of press for their poor performances. Sure, Jessica Simpson's "Blonde Ambition" made about what The Dark Knight makes in an hour-but even that stinker wasn't a huge loss, not really. A genuine box office disaster is something special. The Anti-Dark Knight. Movies that bombard...
