Shirley MacLaine Added Cocaine To Coffee, Mistaking It For Sugar

November 19th, 2007 9:39am EST
Shirley MacLaine
Shirley MacLaine once outraged a party hostess by mistaking cocaine for sugar - and putting white powder worth $1,000 in her cup of coffee. The star insists she has led a drug-free existence, with the exception of smoking marijuana one time and eating some cannabis-laced "bang brownies" late actor Robert Mitchum gave her on another occasion.

So MacLaine, 73, had no idea she was adding a small fortune in cocaine to her coffee at the posh event.

In her new memoir "Sage-ing While Age-ing," she recalls, "At a fancy dinner party in Hollywood, I put a teaspoon of what I thought was ve...

Michael Madsen Hates Homogenized Hollywood

June 8th, 2006 1:24pm EDT
Michael Madsen
Michael Madsen has hit out at contemporary Hollywood filmmaking, insisting movies have become dull and mindless. The star is sick of the formulaic plots he sees at cinemas and is calling for a return to a golden age of great acting and carefully crafted scripts.

He says, "Everything is just getting completely homogenized. I grew up in a time when I watched actors like Humphrey Bogart and Robert Mitchum. Those are the movies that I liked and I responded to.
