Review: 'Snow White And The Huntsman' Takes Itself Too Seriously

June 1st, 2012 1:30pm EDT
Snow White and the Huntsman
Okay folks, 'Snow White' is back and this time she's mad as hell and ready to kick some butt.

First off, I must ask, did we really need two films this year about Miss White? Personally, I think it was one was too many.

In any case, 'Snow White and the Huntsman' directed by Rupert Sanders, stars Kristen Stewart as Snow White, Charlize Theron, as the super evil Queen, Ravenna and Chris Hemsworth as the hunky Huntsman.

We all know the story, so I'll be brief...

Ravenna feeds on the souls of virgins in order to maintain her youthful glow (guess she never heard about Botox). After she kills...

Ian McShane To Play A Dwarf In 'Snow White' Movie

June 21st, 2011 3:41pm EDT
Ian McShane
British movie star Ian McShane has landed his smallest role - he has reportedly been cast to play the Dwarf King in director Rupert Sanders' Snow White adaptation.

Computer imagery will knock the Pirates of the Carribbean: On Stranger Tides star down to size for Snow White & The Huntsman, which will star Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron.

McShane will play Caesar, a character new to the Snow White fairytale, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film starts shooting in August and is expected to hit cinemas next summer.

Johnny Depp And Penelope Cruz Talk About Pirates Of The Caribbea
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides may be the most anticipated movie of the year. Any time Johnny Depp gets back into a pirate costume is good times, and this time he’s joined by international superstar Penelope Cruz.

Jack Sparrow (Depp) returns, this time looking for the Fountain of Youth with an old flame Angelica (Cruz). They have to ride on Blackbeard (Ian McShane)’s ship in an adventure that takes on mermaids and The Fountain of youth.

Depp and Cruz joined a press conference to discuss their sprawling swashbuckling epic. Although they shared the stage with their ensemble cos...

Review: 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' - On Stranger Tides' - 'Two Jews On Film' Says Number Four Finds The Gold (Video)

May 17th, 2011 11:44am EDT
Pirates Of The Caribbean On Stranger Tides
'Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' directed by Rob Marshall is the fourth film of this franchise...And in my opinion, the best.

Johnny Depp returns as Captain Jack Sparrow but this time, except for Geoffrey Rush (Captain Hector Barbossa) and Kevin R. McNally (Joshamee Gibbs) there's a whole new set of characters that may or may not want to do him harm...including the beautiful, enigmatic, Pirate...Angelica (Penelope Cruz).

After an edge of your seat sword fight, Angelica knocks Jack out. When Jack awakens, he finds himself a prisoner aboard a ship called 'Queen Anne's R...

Trailer Talk: This Week in Movies - 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,' & 'Midnight in Paris'

May 16th, 2011 2:00pm EDT
Pirates of the Caribbean
I still have not had the opportunity to see the much talked about “Thor,” which seems to be receiving mixed reviews from everyone I know. Some people I’ve spoken to have loved it, while others have despised it, so I will have to see it for myself soon.

Last week though, I checked out the indie drama “Hesher” starring Rainn Wilson, Natalie Portman, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt which I loved. It’s definitely not your typical story of recovery from grief, mainly because of the character Hesher, played by Gordon Levitt. The squatter invites himself into the home of Paul (Wilson) and his son TJ ...

Penelope Cruz
Penelope Cruz attended the "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" premiere in Moscow, Russia, on Wednesday. What do you think of her snowflake dress?

It's not a very spring-like dress, but we get the reference to Russia.

In the film, Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) embark on a quest to find the elusive fountain of youth, only to discover that Blackbeard (Ian McShane) and his daughter Angelica (Cruz) are after it too.

What?! Good Actors, Bad Ideas

April 1st, 2011 4:05pm EDT
Shark Attack
Remember that saying "the road to hell is paved with good intentions"? Even the best actors have their misses. Here's a list of some of my favorite bad performances, miscastings, and poor project choices - all the things that land great actors in bad situations. (But I still love them, regardless.)

John Barrowman, Shark Attack 3: Megalodon (2002)

Shark Attack 3: Megalodon is the worst movie that I have ever seen. I really wish that Mystery Science Theater 3000 was still around, because this flick belongs on that list.

While no one expects brilliance from a movie called Shark Attack ...

Revamping The 'X-Men' Movies: Possibilities For The Future

January 23rd, 2008 12:06pm EST
X-Men
For better or worse we have a completed X-Men movie trilogy. You didn't think that was the end though, right? Wolverine fans can expect the character to debut in a self-titled movie due for release in 2009, with a Magneto prequel set to follow. It's only a matter of time before the X-Mansion is revisited and we get another outing with our favorite mutant team.

If they do make an "X-Men 4" perhaps it'll be time to change a few things within the franchise -- a new creative team perhaps, some new cast members, maybe *gasp* not have Wolverine as the lead character. Let's take a look at so...
