Peyton Reed Hired To Direct 'Ant-Man,' Adam McKay To Write Script

6/9/2014 5:00pm EDT
Peyton Reed
Ant-Man finally has its new director after losing Edgar Wright. Deadline reports Peyton Reed, whose credits include Yes Man and The Break-Up, will take the helm.

Adam McKay, who was in talks to direct before removing himself from the running, has instead been hired to help finish the script.

While it was assumed there would be some sort of comedic twist to the film with Wright involved, it's now all but confirmed Marvel is seeking laughs to go along with its superhero action. As of now, the movie is still hoping to make its July 17, 2015 release date.

Paul Rudd is still set to play Scott...

Adam McKay Drops Out Of 'Ant-Man' Negotiations

6/1/2014 9:00pm EDT
Adam McKay
Marvel’s Ant-Man lost a replacement director for Edgar Wright when comedy director Adam McKay removed himself from negotiations.

The superhero film, which has been in development under Wright since 2006, suddenly found itself without a director when Wright left the film. The Shaun of the Dead director was allegedly furious when Marvel re-wrote sections of his script without his prior knowledge, then refused to retract the changes.

The changes likely attempted to attach Ant-Man to the rest of the Marvel universe. The original Ant-Man, Hank Pym, creates Ultron in the comics – and Ultron is ...

Will Ferrell To Produce Animated 'Flintstones' Movie

5/8/2014 3:05pm EDT
Will Ferrell and production partner Adam McKay are working to bring The Flintstones back to the big screen.

The Hollywood Reporter says Warner Bros. and Ferrell's production company Gary Sanchez are involved in the creation of an animated film based on the 1960s cartoon. Chris Henchy, who co-wrote The Campaign, is working on the script.

The last time we saw the Flintstones was the live action film Viva Rock Vegas in 2000, which was critically panned and never recouped production costs. A previous live action film in 1994 made over $340 million worldwide.

In 2011, Seth MacFarlane attempte...

10 Cartoon Movies That Should Be Made!

7/30/2011 11:00am EDT
Christina Hendricks Jane Jetson?
Following in the footsteps of fellow Saturday morning stalwarts Scooby Doo, Speed Racer, Yogi Bear, Inspector Gadget and many more, the Smurfs at long last make their big screen debut (only a decade or two after most would really care), begging the question: What other classic cartoons could possibly be left for a live action / CGI movie adaptation? Well, lots, actually, but we’re only listing the top ten (along with some cast and director suggestions).

A live version of Hanna-Barbera’s modern space-age family has been bandied about for years, but as with so many cartoon and ...

Eva Mendes' Striking, Nautical-Inspired Dress

Eva Mendes
Eva Mendes attended the 2nd Annual Variety Power of Women Luncheon earlier this week wearing a sexy orange, blue and white assymetrical striped dress. For some reason the colors and her curves remind us of the sea...

Eva and director Adam McKay found it hard to stomach working with Will Ferrell on "The Other Guys" because his cooking was awful. Will was delighted his colleagues seemed to love his food and devoured every lunch - but now he's been left licking his wounds after they confessed he's useless in the kitchen.

Maybe the co-stars on her new film will be better in the kitchen!

Will Ferrell: 'I'm A Bit Of A Gourmet Chef'

9/9/2010 1:30pm EDT
Will Ferrell
Eva Mendes and director Adam McKay found it hard to stomach working with Will Ferrell on The Other Guys - his cooking was awful.

The movie funnyman is convinced he's a good chef and insisted on rustling up a Thai meal for his fellow cast and crewmembers every day on the set of the new movie. He was delighted his colleagues seemed to love his food and devoured every lunch - but now he's been left licking his wounds after they confessed he's useless in the kitchen.

In an interview with Total Film magazine, Ferrell says, "I'm a bit of a gourmet chef. I love cooking - mostly Thai food. And ...

Will There Be Any Surprise Movie Gems in August?

8/10/2010 11:14am EDT
eat pray love
This past weekend, “The Other Guys,” starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, unseated “Inception” for the top spot at the box office. Notorious for mediocre movies, August is typically the worst month of the year for any moviegoer who craves an inspired experience at the theater.

This August, however, may be different as “The Other Guys” has already gotten solid reviews from critics and a $35 million opening weekend. The re-teaming of Ferrell and writer/director Adam McKay has already spiced up the box office for the early part of August and several other titles makes one wonder if the re...

Trailer Talk: This Week in Movies - 'The Other Guys,' 'Step Up 3D' & More

8/8/2010 7:20pm EDT
The Other Guys
I caught two of last week’s films in theaters: “Dinner for Schmucks” and “Charlie St. Cloud.” Both of which I found to be pretty average films.

As a comedy “Dinner for Schmucks” is incredibly twisted in the way that makes you laugh because you don’t know how else to react. It takes Judd Apatow-esque raunchy humor and blends it with “Meet the Parents” style awkward situations. Steve Carell effortlessly causes train wrecks wherever he turns in the effort to help Paul Rudd’s character. While I enjoyed it as a story, it did not make me laugh to the degree I hoped it would. My Grade: C+

Callie Cameron Brings The Sexy On HBO's 'Funny Or Die Presents'

5/20/2010 12:30pm EDT
Callie Cameron
Will Farrell and his co-executive producers Adam McKay and Chris Henchy have brought the Internet comedy phenomena to television with the new HBO series ‘Funny or Die Presents’. Actress Callie Cameron plays a retro and well, slutty secretary who stars in the opening and closing scene of every episode. We are fans of the website so we were excited to get the chance to chat with Callie about her experience on the show.

You might recognize Cameron from the Old Spice commercials of Super Bowl 2005 fame. She also did a spread in Maxim magazine and was voted one of the hottest wom...

'Anchorman 2' Delayed By Money Problems?

4/27/2010 2:00pm EDT
Anchorman director Adam Mckay has blamed financial constraints for stalling work on a sequel - even though the lead actors offered to slash their fee for the follow-up.

Rumors of an Anchorman 2 have been rife in recent months, with Will Ferrell confirming talks had begun to resurrect his comedy newsreader character Ron Burgundy in a sequel to his hit 2004 movie.

Ferrell disappointed fans last month by revealing the plans had been shelved because the other actors, including Paul Rudd, Steve Carell and Christina Applegate, are too busy to commit to the film.

Director McKay reveals there...

Sequels We'd Like To See & The Odds They Will Really Happen

11/20/2009 11:00am EST
Now that it looks as if the interminable "Saw" franchise has run out of gas after its sixth chapter, we can turn our attention to sequels that we'd really like to see, and what the odds are of them actually being produced.

ANCHORMAN 2: This is the biggie that most comedy fans would love to see. Star Will Ferrell and director Adam McKay have danced around the sequel for years, tantalizing fans with potential story ideas, fake titles and other tidbits, but nothing seems to be concrete. Still, the phenomenal popularity of the first film would make it a slam dunk, box-office smash. And, as ...

He continues the discussion -- that we had previously begun with Nancy Travis -- about the state of the American sitcom and looks back at his favorite moments on "Saturday Night Live," throwing out the first pitch at a Cubs game and tries to answer why, actually, did he sign that SNL 30 year contract.

Mike: How did you get involved with "The Bill Engvall Show"? I've followed your career for some time; I really like you on the show but, I admit, I didn't completely see this one comi...

Spotlight On Kathryn Hahn

3/5/2009 12:22pm EST
Kathryn Hahn
There are those types of actors in Hollywood who have recognizable faces but their names seem to slip your mind. Remember when Philip Seymour Hoffman and Don Cheadle were those types of elusive actors? They were in every genre of movie and their face was recognizable, but you drew a blank on their names. Now Philip is an Oscar winner and Don is an Oscar nominee. Kathryn Hahn shouldn't be one of those actors anymore! Drill her face AND name into your head - Kathryn Hahn.

Although Kathryn tends to gravitate towards comedic roles, she has a background in Broadway and television and made ...

'Eastbound And Down' Feels Too Much Like Another Ferrell-McKay Movie

2/16/2009 3:04pm EST
Eastbound And Down
The plot for Eastbound And Down reads like the next Will Ferrell/Adam McKay comedy: a superstar becomes too big for his britches, then crashes and burns. His only hope is to become a better person and get back to his winning ways.

The busted superstar in this case is Kenny Powers (played by Danny McBride), a power pitching closer that got the last out of the World Series at the age of 19 for Atlanta – they didn’t spring for any MLB licenses, so it's just "Atlanta." He signs a multi-year contract, and soon after trashes Atlanta when they begin to lose, so it's off to the only team that...

Chris Parnell Chats About SNL, '30 Rock,' Lindsay Lohan, Will Ferrell & More

2/12/2009 11:32am EST
Chris Parnell
In the circles I run in, "Ooh, now that's a hot lead" is something I hear quoted by my friends quite often, really, for any reason or occasion. It's just one of those things. Of course, this is one of Chris Parnell's lines from Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. Naturally, I was (way too) excited to share this fact with Chris and, well, he (ahem) had no idea what I was talking about -- at least at first.

Regardless, Chris was nice enough to join me the day after his birthday and discuss everything from his time on Saturday Night Live, helping put YouTube on the map with "Lazy Sund...
