'Star Wars: Episode VII' Has A Title, Wraps Filming

Just over a year until its release, Star Wars: Episode VII has gotten an official title.

The film's official facebook page shared an image of the franchise's logo, showing the new subtitle "The Force Awakens."

The caption for the image was big news also: "'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' has completed principal photography."

The cast and crew of the film, directed by J.J. Abrams, celebrated the wrap of filming last weekend, and everyone received a baseball cap and a note from producers Abrams, Kathleen Kennedy and Brian Burk.

At least one of the cast members of "Star Wars: Episode VII" is thrilled with yesterday's cast reveal. Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker in the iconic franchise, tweeted early Thursday morning: "UK table read- I was knocked out by the diverse & extraordinarily talented new cast members. A day after reports that Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill all happened to be in London, England, where Star Wars: Episode VII just happens to be filming, the official casting announcement for the film was released on StarWars.com. And, indeed, the three stars will be returning for at least the first film in the new trilogy.

Ford, Fisher and Hamill will also be joined by Peter Mayhew, who returns to the saga as the Wookiee Chewbacca and Anthony Daniels, who will once again don the gold outfit of droid C-3PO.

Several members from the original "Star Wars" films joined cast members from the upcoming film for dinner in London, England, over the weekend. Director J.J. Abrams organized the event at 34 restaurant in Mayfair.

A source told Britain's The Sun, "The cast are being flown out to various locations to film. Bosses want to capitalize on them all being in London by booking in a get-together. It was a top secret mission, nobody was allowed to let on they'd be meeting up."

British actor Peter Mayhew is set to reprise his role as Chewbacca in Star Wars: Episode VII, according to several reports.

The 69-year-old actor recently canceled an appearance at a "Star Wars" fan event in Texas, leading many to believe that freeing up his schedule means he'll be in the new film.

Mayhew was scheduled to appear at the Texas International Comic Convention, aka "Comicpalooza," in Houston, Texas on Memorial Day weekend, but pulled out "due to filming."

Chewbacca's Lightsaber Creates TSA Delay

Peter Mayhew, best known for playing Chewbacca in the Star Wars trilogy, created a stir online when he shared a photo of himself waiting for TSA to let him through - because they had a problem with his lightsaber.

The 7'2" actor is currently using a cane stylized as a lightsaber due to a knee injury. When he tried to board a plane last week, the Transportation Security Administration stopped him and made him wait in a wheelchair as they examined the cane.

Harrison Ford surprised crowds at the Comic-Con convention on Saturday by appearing in handcuffs - shortly after a man was arrested for allegedly stabbing another fan at the San Diego, California event.

The handcuffed actor was led onstage by two security guards and given a standing ovation from the 6,000-strong audience at the sci-fi and comic book gathering.

As an entertainment journalist, I’ve interviewed Harrison Ford four times and never heard him talk about Star Wars. For 30 years, he saved that for charity. Now, George Lucas sponsored the Empire Gives Back initiative, where anniversary screenings of the second film in the saga would be screened for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Last night Lucasfilm held a special one-night-only charity screening of "The Empire Strikes Back" to celebrate the film's 30th Anniversary. The charity showing benefited the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and a handful of the film's stars, including Harrison Ford, Billy Dee Williams and Peter Mayhew were in attendance. Also at the event was Ewan McGregor, star of the three "Star Wars" prequel films.
