Celebrities That Turn 50 In 2012

January 4th, 2012 8:00am EST
Celebrities That Turn 50 In 2012
The year was 1962, John F. Kennedy was President of the United States and the cold war with Russia was in full swing as the world witnessed the Cuban Missile Crisis. Also in 1962, Marilyn Monroe died of a drug overdose at the age of 36 and Johnny Carson took over the duties of "The Tonight Show." Landmark movies that hit the big screen in '62 included "Lawrence of Arabia" and "To Kill a Mockingbird." The Academy Award winner for best picture that year was none other than "West Side Story."

We think you'll be surprised at how young many of today's popular celebrities look who were born in ...

'Supernatural' Recap: Double The Winchesters, Half The Fun

October 29th, 2011 8:38am EDT
padalecki and ackles
I have a love-hate relationship with spoilers. As a television addict who can barely survive the mere seven days between episodes, I covet the irresistible nuggets of coming attractions. As an invested fan, I want to experience the adventure with the characters and be as shocked and awed as the next unspoiled viewer. It’s a pop culture quagmire. I heard about “Slash Fiction’s” awesome premise weeks ago. The episode had a fabulous potential for badassery, gore and the patented fraternal angst that keeps the fangirls swooning after more than 130 episodes. Sadly, “Slash Fiction”—while ent...

'Supernatural' Recap: War of Witches Scorned

October 23rd, 2011 8:00am EDT
marsters and carpenter
Last week’s episode left me unfulfilled as Dean hadn't shared his secret, and instead chose to try to bury his head in the sand and his liver in alcohol. Luckily, for my sanity, “Shut Up, Dr. Phil” was lighthearted and unexpectedly charming, thanks sci-fi staples and “Angel” alums James Marsters (“Hawaii Five-0”) and Charisma Carpenter (“Burn Notice,” “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”).

The murder of Wendy Goodson, real estate agent, opened the episode. She reassured her client that selling the family home would punish her husband for his infidelities. For Wendy, who had indiscretions of he...

'Hawaii Five-O' 2.01 'Ha'i'ole' Review

September 20th, 2011 2:05am EDT
Hawaii Five-O
I have to admit that I didn't know what to expect from the season premiere of Hawaii Five-O. I was merely crossing my fingers and hoping it improved from its nearly shark-jumping first-season finale. Thankfully, that will just be a bad memory, because the show has come back in fine if not excellent form.

Steve's in prison awaiting trial for the murder of Governor Jameson. Danny's visiting him just to introduce his former SEAL instructor, Lieutenant Commander Joe White (Terry O'Quinn of Lost and, to me, the dad from The Cutting Edge), who wants to lend him a hand. Chin Ho, now a lieuten...

Hottest Vampires

The Top Hottest Vampires
Forget werewolves and witches, vampires have taken a bite out of pop culture and they're not going down without a fight. From films to fashion, gorgeous bloodsuckers are everywhere and causing a major heat wave as the biggest trend of 2009. Twilight may have caused thousands of teenagers to join Team Edward, but these seductive creatures have been captivating audiences for decades.

What's not to love about them? They're forever young, enchanting, seemingly unattainable, sometimes romantic, and always amazing in the sack. Some are tortured, while others just enjoy a good bloodbath. Fortu...

Learn More About SyFy's New Drama And 'BSG' Spinoff 'Caprica'

August 20th, 2009 10:07am EDT
Caprica
Long ago, in a popular culture period far, far away, to watch or read science fiction was synonymously tied to the then derogatory term of 'geek'. Now that stereotype has somewhat weakened. One of the many reasons for this change was the Ron Moore reimagining of 'Battlestar Galactica' in 2004. 'BSG' was a hit not just amongst the typical sci-fi fan base, as it is most commonly discussed as a space opera, but to more non-traditional fans. When 'Heroes' debuted on NBC it was a break in network format. Many questioned why it was not to air on the sister channel, then, Sci-Fi, and spurred d...

'Buffy' Alum Tom Lenk Talks Comedy, Making People Uncomfortable & Getting Nude

April 21st, 2008 12:47pm EDT
Tom Lenk
Although he may still best be known for his iconic performance as lovable nerd Andrew Wells on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," Tom Lenk has been keeping quite busy since the beloved series wrapped in 2003. Lenk, a self-described "jack of all trades," has passed the time acting, writing and directing as well as creating and performing in his signature live comedy shows. While Tom has carved out a niche for himself in the world of comedy (and a reputation for regularly donning wigs and fake mustaches) he aspires to do more with his career than simply make people laugh.

That's not to say th...

Joss Whedon is the 43-year-old writer/director/producer who is best known for creating Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The son of Golden Girls scribe Tom Whedon, Joss followed in the family business when, after receiving his film degree from Wesleyan University in 1987, he found work as a writer on Roseanne. It wasn't until the early 90s that Whedon would begin walking the path to becoming the creative force he is known as today.

Torchwood
When last we left our heroes at "Torchwood" the team had survived an attack by one giant ass alien from the rift. Everyone hugged and kissed and was happy, and then Captain Jack Harkness heard a familiar noise and disappeared from Torchwood headquarters.

What's going on now?

Gwen took on the role of the team leader and seems to be doing well with teammates Ianto, Toshiko, and Owen. They end up in a relatively polite car chase with a fish-headed alien that ends with a hostage situation and the return of Jack.

Wait, didn't I see Spike in the previews?

Comic-To-Film Dream Casts: Miley Cyrus As Spider-Girl & More

January 14th, 2008 10:17am EST
Miley Cyrus
Comic book movies have steadily crept into mainstream media, and with the addition of some extremely popular fantasy-based television shows like "Lost" and "Heroes," the strange and unfamiliar are becoming more widely accepted.

I've been a long-time fan of comics, mini-series and graphic novels, and seeing some of my favorite characters live on the big screen can be both exhilarating and horrifying. It is just a matter of time before most of them are made into movies, and because of this I put forth a modest proposal for a few dream casting and origin/first movie plot choices. In some...

Hellboy II: The Golden Army
"Hellboy II: The Golden Army" (July 11)

This is a sequel to the first "Hellboy" and is based off an enormously well received series created by Dark Horse Comics. Hellboy is the greatest supernatural detective and blends many aspects of classical horror and magic with a uniquely dry sense of humor.

The first movie was moderately popular, and the DVD sales were positive enough that a sequel was given the green light. It will be directed again by Guillermo del Toro, and star Ron Perlman as Hellboy, Selma Blair as Liz, and Doug Jones as Abe Sapien.

"Hellboy" has always been a f...
