Ryan Malgarini grew up in Las Vegas under the guardianship of his grandparents and expressed an interest in a professional acting career from the age of five, when he witnessed his grandmother's involvement in a nationally broadcast television spot. After appearing opposite her (and the late Lou_Rawls) in a commercial, and then essaying similar assignments on television spots for McDonald's and Washington Mutual Savings Bank, Malgarini secured Los Angeles-area representation as a child actor. He took one of his earliest onscreen bows with a small role opposite Kevin_Spacey and Lena_Olin in the grim psychological drama The United States of Leland (2002), then landed turns in the family-oriented outings Freaky_Friday (2003) (as the son of Jamie_Lee_Curtis and the brother of Lindsay_Lohan) and How to Eat Fried Worms (2006).
