"Billy Elliot" star Jamie Bell has reportedly emerged as the favorite to star as a teenage Spider-Man in the fourth installment of the superhero franchise.

Movie producers are planning to turn back time for a prequel, taking character Peter Parker back to high school before he became the web-slinging superhero, portrayed by Tobey Maguire in the first three films.

Casting executives are reportedly considering Bell for the lead role, along with "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" star Andrew Garfield and Josh Hutcherson from "Journey to the Center of the Earth," reports Heat Vision Blog.

Kirsten Dunst Comes Out Of Hiding Wearing An Ugly Dress

April 24th, 2010 2:18pm EDT
Kirsten Dunst
If her dress was just a little bit longer, Kirsten Dunst would like a mormon. It could almost pass as an ugly nightgown. She showed up at New York City's Tribeca Film Festival yesterday in this dowdy white dress with little pastel flowers all over it. What do you think of it?

The actress has been out of the spotlight recently. One thing we do know - she and Tobey Maguire are finished with the "Spider-Man'" franchise.

The new "Spider-Man" movie will borrow from Marvel's "Ultimate Spider-Man" storyline, in which Peter Parker gets his powers while still in highschool. The film will be dir...

Who Will Replace Tobey Maguire In 'Spider-Man 4'?

January 12th, 2010 11:09am EST
Tobey Maguire
Yesterday it was announced that Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi have left the production of Spider-Man 4, opening the door for a younger actor to put on the blue and red spandex. But who can continue the success of the $2.5 billion franchise?

First let's discuss the new direction of the fourth movie. While it may seem odd that a "prequel" can be written, when Peter Parker is bitten by the radioactive spider in the first Spider-Man movie, there is a loophole.

Marvel has a separate timeline featuring Spider-Man titled "Ultimate Spider-Man." In this version Peter Parker is 15 when he is fir...

Often times, weather plays an integral role in films, whether it be that it helps to set the tone, has symbolic significance, or makes a kissing scene all the more steamy, like the passionate lip-lock between Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams in "The Notebook" (2004), whose sexiness skyrocketed thanks to it taking place during a downpour. Sometimes the weather even takes on a life of its own, like in the film "Twister" (1996), in which the tornado acts as just as much of a protagonist as both Helen Hunt's and Bill Paxton's characters.

So now, with winter officially getting its frosty self...

Tomorrow evening I will have the opportunity to see Jason Reitman's new travel comedy "Up in the Air" starring George Clooney. I have read a number of early favorable reviews of the film, and I really like Reitman's movies, so I'm fairly excited.

Comedy seems to prevail as a common theme this week. At the box office there will be two dramas and three comedies. Two of the films premiering are American adaptations of foreign films. In addition to "Up in the Air" films opening this week include "Armored," "Brothers," "Everybody's Fine," "Serious Moonlight," and "Transylmania."

Why is Katie Holmes Still Famous?

Katie Holmes owes her career to "Dawson's Creek," cut her real acting teeth in "The Ice Storm," embarrassed herself in movies like "Disturbing Behavior," didn't embarrass herself in "Thank You for Smoking, and even tried her hand at Broadway. Is it her looks?

Some may argue that her looks have gotten her to where she is and kept her there. She did pursue modeling prior to her work as an actress. But take a look at Katie durin...

Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan probably did not have heart-to-heart talks on Sunday nights while drinking wine and watching Desperate Housewives. But there are a few cases in which people really do like each other and hang out because they are in fact best friends!
