Actor Anthony Mackie cried tears of pride when he was cast as superhero Falcon in the new Captain America sequel, because he was overwhelmed by the idea of becoming a role model for younger generations of African-Americans.

Gangster Squad
As a result of the Aurora cinema massacre in Colorado last month, the cast of "Gangster Squad" is back on the set to reshoot some scenes.

Review: 'Real Steel' 'Two Jews On Film' Have Split Decision On This Action Fantasy (Video)

October 6th, 2011 7:00pm EDT
Real Steel
Two Jews on Film: By Joan Alperin Schwartz - The year is 2020. Things look pretty much the same as they do now... Except in the world of boxing. Humans have evolved to the point where they no longer get excited by watching men and women pummel each other. Score one for us.

What we have instead is 'Robot Boxing' which I have to say is...really, really cool...especially the way it's depicted in this new fantasy, action film, called 'Real Steel' directed by Shawn Levy.

First of all, these 'robot boxers' aren't your everyday garden variety robots. These animatronic, mechanical men are ov...

Lost star Evangeline Lilly's planned hiatus from acting will be short lived - she's signed on to co-star in Steven Spielberg's new film Real Steel.

Anthony Mackie Under Threat On War Movie Set

August 2nd, 2009 5:00pm EDT

Actor Anthony Mackie has ruled out making another lifelike war movie after constantly fearing for his life - for real - while filming The Hurt Locker in Jordan.

The actor, who portrayed Tupac Shakur in Notorious B.I.G. biopic Notorious, admits he didn't have a great experience on the set of the gritty new film, in which he plays an army bomb squad expert. However, sandstorms and poor conditions were the least of his worries - there was a constant threat that he and his cast mates could be killed.

He explains, "My life was hell. There were points where it got really hairy. The exhaus...

Movie Spotlight: 'Notorious'

January 16th, 2009 11:20am EST
Notorious
In the last few years, biopics, namely music biopics have become a routine. It's only fitting that Notorious becomes this year's first.

Almost twelve years after his death, Christopher Wallace's story gets the big screen treatment. But the journey from story to screen hasn't been easy. Notorious struggled in development and Training Day's Antoine Fuqua was once attached to direct. Many artists, like Sean Kingston, have made it clear that they had an interest in playing Biggie but none of this was proven as fact. Under the guidance of director George Tillman, Jr. the cast and scri...

Music Biopics: What's Been Done, What's In The Works, & What We Want

September 19th, 2008 9:07am EDT
Walk the Line
The biopic is a longstanding Hollywood tradition. There are the big budget epics like the now infamous Elizabeth Taylor vehicle "Cleopatra," David Lean's masterpiece, "Lawrence of Arabia," or Richard Attenborough's "Gandhi." Daniel Day Lewis' portrayal of the Irish cerebral palsy painter, Christy Brown in "My Left Foot," or Bill Condon's 2004 film "Kinsey" about human sexuality researcher Alfred Kinsey come to mind.

In recent years, thanks in part to the wide success of the films "Ray...
