Nye portrays a professor in the Engineering Department of Cal Sci who helps Charlie (David Krumholtz) and Dr. Larry Fleinhart (Peter MacNicol) recreate a backdraft in order to help the FBI determine who has been starting a series of deadly fires in Los Angeles.
