Dylan McDermott turned down Showgirls over penis idea

Dylan Mcdermott turned down a lead role in racy drama Showgirls after director Paul Verhoeven insisted on electronically enhancing his penis for the big screen.

McDermott reveals he came close to being part of the critically-panned 1995 movie, but an interesting creative decision put him off.

He tells U.S. TV show Watch What Happens Live, "I was offered Showgirls. I talked to the director and they wanted to electronically enhance my penis. I don't know why, (but) that's why I turned it down. They hadn't seen it (penis) before they made that decision."

Kyle Maclachlan was stunned after watching his camp classic Showgirls for the first time - he had assumed the stripper movie would be a "hard-hitting" drama.

The film, starring Elizabeth Berkley as an exotic dancer in Las Vegas, was universally panned by critics after its release in 1995 and went on to become a cult favorite.

However, MacLachlan, who played nightclub boss Zack Carey, admits he went into production believing Showgirls would be a provocative hit - and it wasn't until he viewed the finished edit that he finally realized it wasn't his best work.

Director Peter Berg Set To Bring Back 'Hercules'

Hercules is set for a big return to the spotlight with Hancock moviemaker Peter Berg keen to remake the cult TV series as a blockbuster. Berg will produce and direct Hercules: The Thracian Wars for Universal Studios.

The project will be adapted from a five-issue comic book series, which debuted in May.

Casting details have yet to be announced; Kevin Sorbo played Hercules on TV.

The project isn't the only remake Berg is planning - the actor/director is also set to direct and produce a new film version of the Frank Herbert sci-fi classic Dune.

Former Sex and the City star Kyle MacLachlan is expecting his first child with his wife, Project Runway producer Desiree Gruber.

The Twin Peaks actor, 48, wed Gruber in Miami, Florida in 2002, and after six years of marriage the couple will welcome its first child in the summer.

MacLachlan is delighted by the news and can't wait to introduce his son or daughter to his favorite sport - golf.

He tells New York Post's gossip column PageSix, "I've got a little set of golf clubs all ready. Just not sure if the club head covers will be pink or blue."
