The Worst Superhero Movies You've Never Seen

November 2nd, 2014 7:00pm EST
The Worst Superhero Movies You've Never Seen
When a superhero movie is good, it's incredible. There's a reason people dressed in their finest Batman suits for "The Dark Knight," and why more people saw The Avengers than there are people alive on Earth.

Okay, that last fact is not even close to being true, but you get the idea. Superheroes. Super popular.

And when a superhero movie is bad, everybody knows about it. Take "Batman & Robin," a movie so awful it killed the Batman franchise for nearly ten years, and still sends Batman fans into convulsions with a mere mention of the word "Bat-nipples."

Yet some superhero movies slip under...

Action stars come and go but nobody has had more powerhouse staying power then tough guy Dolph Lundgren.  Blasting onto the scene back in 1985 as Ivan Drago the Russian foe to Sylvester Stallone’s American Rocky Balboa in "Rocky IV", Lundgren has made a career playing some memorable and iconic on-screen heavies.  Some of his most memorable include playing the sassy Russina in "Red Scorpion", teaming up with the late great Brandon Lee in "Showdown in Little Tokyo" and the surly cop to Brian Benben’s goofball detective in the cult classic "I Come In Peace."  (Not to mention Dolph was both He-...

Action Packed 'The Expendables 2' Debuts At Number One

August 20th, 2012 8:46am EDT
THe Expendables 2
Action star-filled "The Expendables 2" dominated the weekend box office, grossing $28.8 million during its opening weekend. It was a respectable dbut; however, the original film opened with $34.8 million in 2010.

Sylvester Stallone heads up the starring cast, which includes returning members Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, and Terry Crews, along with fellow '80s action icons Jean-Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris. Liam Hemsworth also stars.

Jeremy Renner's "The Bourne Legacy" dropped to number two, taking in $17 million. Animated film "ParaNorman" bowed in at number three with ...

Jean-Claude Van Damme Shows Off His Moves, Abs At 'Expendables 2' Photocall

August 8th, 2012 2:00pm EDT
Jean-Claude Van Damme
Dolph Lundgren, Jason Statham and Jean-Claude Van Damme attended the photocall for "The Expendables 2" at the Ritz Hotel in Madrid, Spain, today.

Van Damme, 51, appeared to be in particularly good spirits, executing some martial arts moves for photographers and showing off his smooth, if not necessarily rock hard, abs.

In the film, Church (Bruce Willis) reunites the Expendables for what should be an easy paycheck; however, one of the men is murdered on the job, and their quest for revenge takes a bad turn.

Also starring in the action-packed film are Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li and Terry ...

Chuck Norris Censors Violent Scenes For His Children

March 30th, 2012 8:14am EDT
Chuck Norris
Chuck Norris ensures his young children don't watch the violent scenes in his action movies by making a special family-friendly version for them.

The veteran action hero appeared in a number of brutal movies during the 1970s and 1980s, before toning down the violence in his latter films and hit TV show Walker, Texas Ranger.

Norris stars in Sylvester Stallone's upcoming The Expendables 2 and is said to have asked for the film be downgraded from a restrictive 'R' rating to a PG-13 for his young fan base.

However, Stallone has insisted on keeping the original rating, and another of the f...

Chuck Norris & Jean-Claude Van Damme Confirmed For 'Expendables' Sequel

September 14th, 2011 8:39am EDT
Chuck Norris
Sylvester Stallone has confirmed reports suggesting action men Jean-Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris have signed up to join the cast of his new "The Expendables" movie.

He tells the two stars will join himself, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger in the action film sequel, which will begin shooting in Bulgaria later this month.

And Stallone says film fans can expect a "big showdown" between himself and Van Damme in the movie.

Jean-Claude Van Damme Refused To Lose To Jet Li In 'Expendables' Fight

August 17th, 2010 8:23am EDT
Jean-claude Van Damme
Jean-Claude Van Damme refused to appear in Sylvester Stallone's all-star action film The Expendables, because he would have to lose a fight to Jet Li.

Stallone corralled a hit-list of Hollywood hard men to appear in the film, but Universal Soldier star Van Damme turned him down, because the Belgian martial arts expert failed to get the movie's satirical undertones.

Stallone tells Britain's Sunday Times, "I wanted to set Jean-Claude against Jet Li, but he didn't want to lose to Jet. He didn't think that was cool. But that's why it would be cool; to have Jean-Claude beaten by the other ma...

August 11th, 2010 2:00pm EDT
All across the country, fans of the explosive action movies of the 80s are about to have their thirst for old school ass kicking quenched by “The Expendables” whose cast is a veritable dream team of action stars. On August 13, testosterone junkies will have their fill of macho dialogue and gratuitous explosions. In order to be appropriately prepared for what will be a glorious disaster of cheesy filmmaking, here’s a quick rundown of the cast.

Co-writer and director Sylvester Stallone heads the cast as the leader of a group of mercenaries who travel to South America to overthrow a dictator,...

Katie Price In Thigh Highs And A Semi-See Through Dress - Hot Or Not?

August 10th, 2010 1:31pm EDT
Katie Price
Katie Price looked like a street walker when she walked the red carpet at the U.K. premiere of "The Expendables" in London on Monday. What do you think of her thigh-high stockings and see-through dress?

In the film, Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham and Jet Li star as a group of mercenaries who undertake a near-impossible operation to overthrow a dictator in South America. Mickey Rourke, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, Terry Crews, and UFC star Randy Couture co-star in the action-packed production.

Sylvester is convinced "The Expendables" will break box office records for featuring "the ugl...

Will There Be Any Surprise Movie Gems in August?

August 10th, 2010 11:14am EDT
eat pray love
This past weekend, “The Other Guys,” starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, unseated “Inception” for the top spot at the box office. Notorious for mediocre movies, August is typically the worst month of the year for any moviegoer who craves an inspired experience at the theater.

This August, however, may be different as “The Other Guys” has already gotten solid reviews from critics and a $35 million opening weekend. The re-teaming of Ferrell and writer/director Adam McKay has already spiced up the box office for the early part of August and several other titles makes one wonder if the re...

A review will be posted later this week on the movie’s release date.

“Scott Pilgrim vs. the World”hits the box office this week with Sylvester Stallone’s action epic The Expendables, the Julia Roberts drama “Eat Pray L...

Sylvester Stallone's Broken Neck, And A List Of Hollywood's Most Painful Injuries

January 7th, 2010 11:01am EST
Sylvester Stallone
The other day Sylvester Stallone revealed that he had a metal plate placed inside his neck after a freak accident while filming a fight scene for his new movie The Expendables. Many stars want to do their own stunts, either out of pride or a desire to make the movie as real as possible. However, few have escaped unscathed.

Stallone has always insisted on doing his own stunts, and said he had his worst injury while filming Rocky IV. He insisted that co-star Dolph Lundgren actually punch him during takes, and Dolph delivered a stunning punch to Stallone's chest. His ribs compressed agains...

'It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia' Recap: Mac And Charlie Write A Movie

December 4th, 2009 5:26pm EST
As if I wasn't already bummed out enough about the "Sunny" season coming to a close next week, they had to go and blast me with the best episode of the year last night, making the impending Sunny-less winter that much harder to take.

Things start with Mac and Charlie relaying a story to Dennis (who is too preoccupied with his new touch-screen phone to really care) about how they got trapped in a parking garage stairwell and thought they were being stalked by killer, who turned out to be a security guard instead. The guys decide to use what they think is a knack for storytelling to write ...

Best & Worst Superhero Costumes

April 30th, 2009 10:11am EDT
'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' opens this Friday, and could possibly overturn the all three of the other X-Men movies as the best one yet. Not because the other films forgot that Wolverine was really the star anyway, or because there's only so much CGI that a movie can handle before even the performances seem to look animated, but because this will be the first X-Men film to ditch those dorky black latex costumes that made Professor's Xavier's school look like a front for an underground S&M club. In celebration, StarPulse is taking a moment to remember the superhero fads of yesteryear. The ones...

B-Movies: The Best Of The Worst

July 10th, 2008 10:09am EDT
B-Movies The Best Of The Worst
Who's to say that the best movies are actually good? Sure, we've all seen some of the best movies ever made, but then again we've all seen some pretty bad movies too. After all, You Don't Mess With The Zohan made over $95 million since its release - that's a lot of people seeing one dumb movie.

However, sometimes a film can be so absolutely wretched that it comes full circle into being good again; at this point, you've entered the territory of the bad B-movie. B-movies walk a thin line between incredibly entertaining and downright unbearable. In order to get the most out of these movi...

Dolph Lundgren Discusses 'Missionary Man,' Filmmaking And Being The Bad Guy

February 12th, 2008 10:52am EST
Dolph Lundgren
Dolph Lundgren has stared in over 30 action films, portraying, among many others, He-Man, The Punisher, and Ivan Drago in Rocky IV. After killing hundreds of bad guys, leaping from dozens of exploding cars and buildings, and saving plenty of damsels in distress, Dolph is tackling his greatest challenge yet: directing. Starpulse caught up with the action star to discuss filmmaking, playing the bad guy, and learning to trust the audience.

What is it that inspired the story of Missionary Man?

I like Westerns. They're simple, mythical, and I thought it'd be a way to learn some skills a...
