Jack Black is just your average friendly neighborhood killer -- complete with ultra-moustache.
Black and his "School of Rock" director, Richard Linklater, have reunited for "Bernie," a pitch-black crime comedy based on a real-life 1996 murder case in Carthage, Texas.
Black plays the title role, a mortician whose reputation as the nicest guy in town doesn't get tarnished too much after he offs an elderly millionaire widow (Shirley MacLaine), an intolerable shrew whom most of the townsfolk believe had it coming.

Matthew McConaughey has reprised his 1970s stoner ladies man character from cult movie "Dazed & Confused" for pal Butch Walker's new video "Synthesizers."
In the promo, which features Walker as a bartender, the movie star, as Wooderson, walks through a club miming the words to the tune, playing a trumpet and a mini-piano en route to the ladies restroom with two sexy escorts.

Zac Efron has denied reports he is set to take over from Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe in Broadway play Equus.
The High School Musical 3 star was rumored to be lined up to take on the naked role, about a young man who has a sexual interest in horses.
But he is adamant he has not been asked to consider the part.
Asked if his next role would be in Equus, Efron says, "No, that's a rumor. I wasn't approached for it."
And he insists that although he would love to attend a USC film program, he has gained vast experience of the industry by starring in movies.

Hollywood funnyman Jack Black is going back to school, to star in a sequel to comedy hit School Of Rock.
Black has signed to reprise his role as rock star wannabe-turned-teacher Dewey Finn, in School of Rock 2: America Rocks. Richard Linklater will take on directing duties for a second time, and a screenplay is being penned by original writer Mike White.
The first film was a box office success, costing just $30 million and taking $131 million worldwide.

Munich Film Festival To Honor Herzog & Linklater
Directors Werner Herzog and Richard Linklater are to be honored at the 25th Munich Film Festival in Germany in June. German native Herzog will present the first-ever complete retrospective of his 52 movies, including documentaries and short films, to date.
U.S. filmmaker Linklater, whose 1990 debut Slacker premiered at the festival, will host a run-through of his 15 movie career.
The Munich Film Festival celebrates its 25th anniversary between June 22 and 30.

Capote star Philip Seymour Hoffman has been crowned the king of all things arthouse in a new magazine poll. The celebrated actor beat Mexican hunk Gael Garcia Bernal, Forest Whitaker and fellow Oscar winner Juliette Binoche to claim the top spot in Paste magazine's Arthouse Powerhouse 2006 list, which celebrates the most important stars of independent films.
