Ryan Reynolds Beats Tom Cruise's Record In 'Top Gear' Racetrack Challenge

February 14th, 2012 9:57am EST
Ryan Reynolds
Ryan Reynolds is Hollywood's new top gun after beating Tom Cruise's lap time during a racetrack challenge for British TV show "Top Gear."

The star got behind the wheel of a Kia hatchback for the show's Star in a Reasonably Priced Car segment, which aired in the U.K. on Sunday, and admitted the challenge was frustrating for him because he prefers to ride motorcycles.

Footage of his lap had to be bleeped considerably because he hurled obscenities throughout his drive.

He told host Jeremy Clarkson, "I'd like to think I'm a horrible driver. I ride motorcycles everywhere, so you can just race...

Matt LeBlanc: 'There's No Plans For A 'Friends' Movie'

January 17th, 2012 8:50am EST
Matt LeBlanc
Matt LeBlanc has ruled out a "Friends" movie because he'd rather fans remember the beloved TV characters as they were when the sitcom ended.

There has been much speculation about a "Friends" reunion ever since the hit show went off the air in 2004, but LeBlanc insists a get together is as unlikely as ever - and talk of a possible film is futile.

He insists Friends will never be able to transition from the small screen to the big screen like Sex & the City did.

The actor explains, "Sex & the City is always a single kind of a show, like a film, so it made the transition from television to ...

After spending time getting to know FOX on Tuesday, I handled three networks a few days later. Friday at the TCAs (Television Critics Association) was devoted to CBS and its two sister networks, Showtime and The CW. All three brought their midseason shows, as well as executive sessions and a CW panel devoted to the "kick-ass" women of their various series. Here's the dish from the Eye and beyond:

CBS Executive Session

CBS President of Entertainment Nina Tassler was on the hot seat Friday morning. She was quizzed on CBS' emphasis on legal and procedural shows- what with three CSI's, two NC...

'Episodes' Advance Review: Making Fun Of The Hand That Feeds You

January 5th, 2011 10:23am EST
Episodes
My week of Showtime previews continues with a look at Episodes, the second new series that the network will debut on January 9 (the first being Shameless). Episodes focuses on a British couple named Beverly and Sean (Green Wing costars Tamsin Greig and Stephen Mangan) who experience culture shock when their successful UK television series is adapted for an American audience. As a fan of many British shows, several of which have been butchered in American translation - in fact, Episodes rings amusingly like the story of the Brit sitcom Coupling - I have to say this is a neat and probably ...

September 23rd, 2010 8:15am EDT
Matt LeBlanc
Matt LeBlanc is so fed up with fans referring to him as his Friends character Joey he launched into a foul-mouthed rant at reporters on Tuesday insisting the show is "in the past."

The star rose to fame as lovable character Joey Tribbiani in the hit sitcom in the 1990s alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer. LeBlanc went on to film two seasons of spin-off show Joey when Friends ended in 2004, but he has failed to make a mark in the industry following the program's cancellation.

For some actors, it is hard to make the crucial transition into film as a television star. Some Recent TV Spinoff Successes And Failures

With an eagerly anticipated Gossip Girl spinoff in the offing, as well as a number of other spinoffs and remakes, the 2009-2010 television fall schedule feels awfully familiar. Unfortunately, there's no rhyme or reason as to whether these spinoffs actually fly. For every Frasier, there is a Joey. The winners are shows that garnered critical acclaim and/or cult status. The losers are shows that destroyed the integrity of beloved characters and were generally poorly written and conceived.

Former Friends star Matt LeBlanc has quietly settled a legal spat with his former business manager. Camille Cerio claimed the actor owed her over $1 million in commission after breaching a contract.

But the two parties settled the matter out of court at the end of last month, and the agreement papers have just been filed in Los Angeles.

Details of the settlement have not been disclosed.

It's a nice foggy day in San Francisco, and it's good to see that. This might seem nitpicky, but "Eli Stone" rarely features establishing shots of the city with the famous fog present, so it's a nice change. The writers don't waste any time moving things along this week, as Eli (Jonny Lee Miller) gets his vision in the first scene. And it's...wait for it...a vision of the future! No, it's not a dark, Sarah Connor-like nightmarish view of a post-apocalyptic wasteland, but hey, it's still the future! Seems like a man named Dennis Mosley (Sterling K. Brown) is quite the popular leader in ...
