A blond, blue-eyed Australian, actor Daniel Lapaine first made an impression on audiences as the piggish though photogenic object of Toni_Collette's affection in Muriel's_Wedding. Since his 1994 film debut, Lapaine has been finding steady work in a number of diverse films. In 1998, he appeared in no less than four features, with supporting roles in Polish_Wedding, 54, 1999, and Dangerous_Beauty. Unfortunately, every single one of those films received unfailingly hideous reviews (excepting 1999, which was just flat-out unheard of), but the actor's roles were so minor that he managed to avoid any onslaughts of critical vitriol.


The following year was also a prolific one for Lapaine, as he appeared in four more films. The most anticipated of these was Brokedown_Palace, a film that featured him as a vile and charming heroin dealer and reunited him with Polish_Wedding co-star Claire_Danes. He also ventured into the action arena with fellow Aussie Bruce_Beresford's Double_Jeopardy, co-starring Tommy_Lee_Jones and Ashley_Judd, and tried his hand at romantic comedy starring opposite Emmanuelle_Béart in Elephant_Juice.
