Our 10 Favorite Characters From 'True Blood'

June 21st, 2014 5:04pm EDT
True Blood
Well, MY 10 favorite characters from True Blood. I just needed my post title to sound definitive. My views aren't necessarily those of other Starpulsians but since I'm recapping Season 7 of True Blood, it's my say-so! I'm drunk with power. I'ts like I'm high on V or I'm Bill when he was Billith! With the show's seventh and final season premiering on Sunday, it's time to take a look back at the vampires, shapeshifters, werewolves, and plain ole' human residents of Bon Temps that have taken a big bite out of our hearts.

Note - this post contains a vampload of spoilers for every season of Tr...

Vampire and werewolf fans are eager to sink their teeth into new episodes of "True Blood," which kicks off its fifth season on Sunday, June 10.

At the end of season four, Sookie (Anna Paquin) defeated Marnie, but her showdown with Debbie may have had fatal consequences for Tara. Meanwhile, the Bon Temps crew were approaching a new crisis with the return of Russell Edgington, their familiar friend who ended up in a what appears to be an un-permanent cement grave.

Cast members attended the season five premiere in Hollywood on Wednesday, and Paquin showed off her growing baby bump. She a...

May 14th, 2012 11:09am EDT
True Blood
Get ready for a bloody good time this summer as the season premiere of HBO's True Blood kicks off June 10. Beware, the new trailer seems to have a spoiler or two in it, so if you're one of those "I don't want to know" people, you've been warned.

Judging from this new trailer, it looks like the underground Vampire Authority is pissed as human-vampire relations have broken down. We also get a glimpse of Chris Meloni in action and as usual Sookie (Anna Paquin) seems to be in the thick of it all.

Watch the trailer.

Review: 'Griff The Invisible' Speaks To The Strange Dreamer Inside Us All

August 19th, 2011 12:20pm EDT
Griff photo
A cross between "Kick Ass" and the Michael Rapaport flick "Special," "Griff the Invisible" is one wonderfully odd egg. It seems to almost celebrate both the coolness of being a super hero and the absurdity of it in one complex and strange outing that speaks to the dreamer inside us all.

Griff is an average schlub who isn’t all that happy with his life; he keeps mostly to himself, tries to avoid co-workers and settles for a job that is far from fulfilling. But it’s during the dark of night that the real Griff emerges, as he dons a Batman-esk rubber suit and hit the streets in search of cr...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'Fright Night,' 'Conan The Barbarian' & More

Fright Night
If you missed my interview last week, with Jesse Eisenberg and Nick Swardson for the action comedy “30 Minutes or Less,” definitely check it out. The superbly cast film, which is helmed by “Zombieland” director Ruben Fleischer, is loaded with hilarious pop culture references, entertaining action sequences, and great improvisational humor. If you liked what “Zombieland” did for horror comedies, you’ll love what “30 Minutes or Less” does for the action genre. My Grade: B+

'True Blood' Recap - 'Evil is Going On'

True Blood
Finally, finally, finally Bill Compton shows his true colors on "True Blood." Maybe sometimes he can be lovey dovey and adorable with Sookie, but he can also be a snake in the grass who is desperately obsessed with his fairy-blood girlfriend. This finale was about a lot of secrets being revealed all at once, which makes it perfect for them to clean everything up and start anew next season. And what was up with Russell being even funnier during his last episode on screen? Apparently a charred face just ups the comedy value.

So, Sookie is saved by Eric and she immediately runs out to the sun...

Now obviously Eric Northman is going nowhere, but there was a genuine sadness to seeing him make preparations anyway. Meanwhile everyone's going crazy as always and no one knows what Russell is going to do next. And humans hate vampires more than ever again. True Blood Recap - 'Hitting the Ground'

True Blood is really getting gruesome this season. This isn't to say that it has never been bloody and violent before, just think about Sam ripping out Maryann's heart, but it's been more consistent lately. They've replaced the lack of sex with violence. Last week's episode gave one more gigantic hurdle for Sookie and Bill to overcome, a look at fairy nymph land (WTF says everyone), and Tara's back to her badass take-no-prisoners way. Huzzah for that!

Lorena is draining Sookie and she asks the usual question "What are you?" to her, which gives the almost dead Bill enough time to put silver...

"True Blood" is a pretty remarkable show in that the second season eclipsed the first one in terms of writing and excellent acting, which was a big deal since the first season was critically acclaimed and beloved already. There are a lot of fans who say that they liked the premiere season, but they've started to love it this season. Every episode has been strong and interesting and weird, so it stands to reason that one episode eventually had to suck. Just so that "True Blood" didn't get too arrogant. This was that episode. That is at least 10 minutes less than what we're used to, and the shortness was definitely felt. There are only two episodes left, and I expect them to be excruciatingly long to make up for it, got it?

The show opens with Sookie dreaming about Eric again, and while it does establish her softening toward him, they're becoming slightly annoying. DreamEric is most definitely not Eric, and hopefully Sookie needs to de-Twilight her th...
