When “Grey’s Anatomy” made its triumphant mid-season premiere in 2005, it was the much-needed cure for my nasty case of Bad-Television-itis, and a lusty, dramatic, hilarious parallel to my real life. Back then, this television-aholic was just a college student who worked part-time at a hospital and fantasized about some of the more attractive doctors who offered me, a lowly clerk in medical records, more than a perfunctory smile. Knight was taking a left turn in an area of heavy construction on Hollywood Boulevard when he collided with another motorist.

A further vehicle was thought to be involved and one women was treated in hospital for minor injuries following the incident.

Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes has denied reports Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight will be leaving the hit hospital drama - insisting both stars will continue to work on the show.

The pair has played doctors Izzie Stevens and George O'Malley on the program since it first aired in 2005.

The Grey's Anatomy star gave the cash to the anti-Proposition 8 campaign which helps activists oppose a high-level state vote to ban same-sex marriages. Knight is the latest celebrity to donate to the cause; Brad Pitt, Pete Wentz and Steven Spielberg have all pledged money to the campaign.

The donations come days after organizers of the movement accused Hollywood stars of not doing enough for the cause.
