Up For Grabs: The 2013 Best Supporting Actor Oscar

February 24th, 2013 7:05pm EST
Django Unchained
Perhaps the most open category at this year's Oscars, Best Supporting Actor is loaded with five of the industry's most celebrated veterans.

Seven-time Oscar nominee Robert De Niro landed his first nod since 1992 (Cape Fear) for his role as an obsessive sports fan & bookie in Silver Linings Playbook. It's been over 30 years since his last win (1981's Raging Bull), and we like his chances.

Christoph Waltz, who won in this category in 2010 for Inglourious Basterds is nominated for his second award in the same category, again for a Quentin Tarantino film, Django Unchained.

Oscars 2013
Hey Jennifer Lawrence, don't worry if you don't land an Academy Award for your performance in Silver Linings Playbook (you will), because all the nominees who aren't bringing home an Oscar statue this year will get a goodie-bag worth $45,000 as a consolation prize (which will only cost them about $10,000 in taxes to keep).

Gift bags containing all sorts of expensive tchotchkes are nothing new at awards ceremonies like the Oscars, Emmys and Grammys. They started out as a way for companies to get the stars photographed with their wares in exchange for free stuff, ultimately evolving into a p...

The Bourne Legacy
Jeremy Renner isn't playing Jason Bourne, but he's taking over the Bourne franchise for Matt Damon in The Bourne Legacy. Renner's also not the first actor or actress to become the new face of a franchise. Here are 10 other franchise recasts:

Bruce Banner - Eric Bana/Edward Norton/Mark Ruffalo: Bana signed for three Hulk films, but was replaced by super fan Norton when Marvel re-acquired the rights. Norton re-wrote The Incredible Hulk and starred in a hit, but was unable to come to a deal when a role in The Avengers was available. Ruffalo filled in, and was given positive reviews.

Top 10 Batman Villains From Comics, TV And The Big Screen

July 19th, 2012 10:01pm EDT
Bane
The final installment of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, is upon us; and much like Heath Ledger's Joker the film's villains are once again posed to steal the show.

This time around we'll be reintroduced to three bad guys: Bane, (Tom Hardy), Catwoman (Anne Hathaway) and Ra's al Ghul (Liam Neeson). Both Bane and Catwoman made their first appearances in the original film run that Tim Burton started in the 1990s (and, fortunately, we'll be seeing a much different Bane in TDKR); and Ra's al Ghul returns to the series after his intro in Batman Begins.

But where do the...

Okay people... They are back! Those alien fighting dudes, in their black sport jackets, white shirts, skinny ties, shooting gadgets that can wipe your memory clean, faster than you can say 'The Martians Are Coming'

Not only are they back, after a fifteen year absence, but...Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) and Agent J (Will Smith) are better than ever.

Thanks to director, Barry Sonnenfeld and the screenwriters, Etan Cohen, and David Koepp, based on the comic by Lowell Cunningham the third in the franchise.

The plot, without giving too much away, involves time travel, a super grotesque alien kno...

Trailer Talk: This Week in Movies - 'Men in Black III,' 'Moonrise Kingdom' & More

May 21st, 2012 1:00pm EDT
Men in Black
I didn’t end up watching “Battleship” last week, because I wasn’t in the mood to knowingly subject myself to a bad movie that night. Friends who caught it, told me that it’s as terrible as they thought it would be, giving it a D grade. Critic Matt Patches hilariously called it “as stiff and lifeless as the plastic pieces used to play (the board game).” After hearing things like that I’m glad I didn’t bother with “Battleship.”

This week includes the release of the highly anticipated blockbuster “Men in Black III,” but I’m more interested in Wes Anderson’s “Moonrise Kingdom” since it feature...
