Check Out 'A Good Old Fashioned Orgy,' Now On DVD & Digital

December 27th, 2011 10:57am EST
A Good Old Fashioned Orgy
An arrested adolescent hell-bent on good times decides to throw a different sort of bash in the comedy "A Good Old Fashioned Orgy."

Eric (Jason Sudeikis) is in his early 30s, but he hasn't changed much since his high school days - the guy lives to party with a handful of his old friends, and the crazier the get-together, the better. Every summer, Eric throws an epic-scale theme party at his parents' home in the Hamptons, as he and his pals get crazy at the "White Trash Bash" or a "Star Wars vs. Star Trek" throwdown. However, this grand tradition is about to end, as Eric's dad (Don Johnson...

DVD Review/Interview: 'The Future' Filmmaker Miranda July On Time, Mortality and Working With Wayne Wang

December 7th, 2011 3:10pm EST
The Future
If there’s one word that accurately encapsulates the actress/performance artist/writer and director that is Miranda July it’s enigma. Being one of the most unique, unconventional and altogether honest talents working in entertainment today, July is a one-woman force to be reckoned with. Her latest film outing titled "The Future" (available now on DVD from Lionsgate Home Entertainment) is no less potent, a tale of a thirty-something couple that decide to adopt a stray cat and find their very life together and time itself changing. It’s one curiously inimitable look at the hope and heartac...

'A Good Old Fashioned Orgy' Is A Good Old Fashioned Raunchy Comedy

September 1st, 2011 7:35pm EDT
Fez's aren't Indian, but that's ok.
If the title "A Good Old Fashioned Orgy" alone doesn't grab you, odds are no one is grabbing you (in the good way) period, and this movie isn't for you. But if it did and someone does, I'd check it out.

And, if it wasn't for all the sex and nudity and orgies (okay, only one orgy), I'd probably recommend “A Good Old Fashioned Orgy” for the entire family. Or at least for entire groups of (close) friends.During a summer in which a romantic comedy made audiences seriously think about Alzheimers, and a silly fighting movie reminded us of the dangers of domestic and child abuse, it's about damn ...

However, this grand tradition is about to end, as Eric's dad (Don Johnson) has announced he's selling the house. Eric decides he should save the biggest party for last, and tells his friends he's hosting an orgy.

Former Tiger Woods mistress Rachel Uchitel attended the 32nd Annual Carousel Of Hope Ball in Beverly Hills on Saturday night, but we can't figure out exactly why.

The $1,000 per-plate gala was attended by numerous A-list celebrities, including Jennifer Lopez & Marc Anthony, Jane Fonda, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Akon, Don Johnson, Stevie Wonder, Paris Hilton, Lisa Rinna & Harry Hamlin and Halle Berry & Olivier Martinez. But if we recall correctly, having sex with a professional golfer behind his wife's back does not an A-lister make.

American,_The
I apologize to my regular readers that this column is appearing much later than it normally does. This week I endured the hysteria many apartment dwellers suffer from around the beginning of September, known as moving. Now that I have my movies and the rest of my place unpacked though I’m ready to get back to business as usual.

I’m incredibly excited that this week Robert Rodriguez is finally bringing his “Grindhouse” creation “Machete” to theaters. It will be accompanied by George Clooney as a charming assassin in “The American,” the Justin Long/Drew Barrymore romantic comedy “Going...

Don Johnson Attacked By Warthog

September 1st, 2010 11:27am EDT
Don Johnson
Veteran actor Don Johnson put his survival skills to the test during a recent wildlife safari - when he and his wife were attacked by a wild warthog.

The Miami Vice star took his partner Kelley on a trek to Africa, and the trip took a dangerous turn when they spotted a pack of "four or five" of the beasts in the bush near their camp - and one came charging at the couple. However, Johnson was quick to react, and fought off the animal like "a lion tamer" with a nearby chair.

He recalls, "We step into this open area, I look up, and there's this warthog along the way. He sees me and starts...

You know Machete is going to take out the bad guys. You can tell by the name, and the image of Danny Trejo wearing a trench coat full of machetes. You might not have known that he’s also going to solve the immigration debate.

“There are real issues going on in just about any movie that’s got fun elements to it,” writer/director Robert Rodriguez said. “This is just something that’s very current. It really polarizes people because it is a real issue. People want to see an answer. Our answer, in the movie, is Machete because it is such a huge problem, not that he’s even trying to solve it. Kurt Russell Missed Out On Certain Films Because Of Don Johnson

April 7th, 2007 9:56am EDT

Kurt Russell was thrilled when Quentin Tarantino asked him to star in his new Grindhouse movie Planet Terror - because he missed out on roles in similar films to Don Johnson in the 1970s.

Russell admits he was always in contention for low-budget action movies, but he often lost out on roles to Johnson. And, though he's well aware he wasn't Tarantino's first choice to play villain Stuntman Mike in Planet Terror, he's delighted he can now, at last, add a 'grindhouse' project to his resume.

Russell says, "I interviewed for quite a few of those movies so it's interesting for me to sor...

Don Johnson Regrets Turning Down Some Films, Doesn't Regret Passing on 'Dancing With The Stars'

Actor Don Johnson still regrets some of the movie scripts he turned down during his 1980s heyday - including the leading role in The Untouchables, which made Kevin Costner a superstar. Johnson has never become as successful on the big screen as he was in TV smash Miami Vice, and he attributes this to some poor decisions he made.

The 57-year-old tells London radio station Heart FM, "I did turn down a couple of films and my friends ended up doing them but I never told them that I'd turned them down. I said no to playing Elliot Ness in 'The Untouchables' so Kevin Costner did it."
