Ice Cube defends MTV Movie Awards comments

April 15th, 2014 12:20pm EDT
Ice Cube
Ice Cube insists he was a "fan" of Paul Walker.

The rapper had blasted the MTV Movie Awards for overlooking him and his 'Ride Along' co-star in the Best Onscreen Duo category at Sunday's ceremony in favor of the later actor who died in a car accident in November - and his 'Fast and Furious 6' co-star Vin Diesel, but has now insisted his remarks that they took a "sympathy" vote was misunderstood and he felt Paul should have been honored before his death.

He tweeted: "Re: The MTV Awards. I wasn't really mad we didn't win. So I would never diss the actors who won. Not even Paul Walker. Seri...

Review: 'Here Comes The Boom' A Family Fun Feel Good Comedy

October 13th, 2012 9:00am EDT
'Here Comes The Boom
Ten years ago, Scott Voss (Kevin James) was an excellent high school biology teacher. He was even voted 'Teacher of the Year'.

But ten years is a long time. FLASH forward to the present...Scott couldn't care less about teaching. He works only to bring home a paycheck and is completely disillusioned with a school system that treats students like 'cattle'...who's only interested in moving them in and out, as quickly and as cheaply as possible.

To make matters worse, a budget crisis hits the school and by the end of the year, all extracurricular activities (except football, of course) will b...

"Here Comes the Boom," folks! And by "boom," we mean the sound of Kevin James falling to the canvas after a giant MMA fighter has just pounded the unholy hell out of him.

James, mixed martial arts and a brand new trailer? Hey, don't say we never gave you anything.

Of course, you may just be wondering to yourself, "But wait, NextMovie. How on Earth could lovable, roly poly Kevin James ever get mixed up in something as dangerous as battling in the octagon?" Glad you asked.

The answer, it turns out, is that in "Here Comes the Boom," James plays a well-meaning but hapless high school teache...

Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler are among the funnymen who have been targeted by leading animal rights group PETA as part of a campaign to keep animals out of the movies.

Letters have been sent to Carrey and Sandler as well as Steve Carell, Will Ferrell, and Ben Stiller - all of whom have starred in and/or produced films that featured wild animals.

July 4th, 2011 10:30am EDT
Horrible Bosses
For those of you who’ve been following me for a while, you might recall that I gave “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” a positive review. If you’re one of the people who read my opinion back then, you might be surprised to learn I really didn’t care for its sequel “Transformers: Dark of the Moon.” At this point, Michael Bay is just repeating a tired formula that fails to entertain despite the introduction of 3D. Check out my further thoughts here.

This weekend you’ll have the opportunity to see the outrageous comedy “Horrible Bosses,” the Kevin James family film “Zookeeper,” the ...

Review: Adam Sandler's 'Grown Ups' Is Juvenile

June 24th, 2010 1:49pm EDT
Grown Ups
One of my greatest fears has been confirmed by seeing Adam Sandler’s “Grown Ups.” My favorite cast of “Saturday Night Live” from the 90s is starting to lapse into Eddie Murphy syndrome: they have no problem with making crappy family comedies just to cash paychecks.

Watching this poor excuse for something funny made me embarrassed for them. I expected a few lowbrow laughs from these folks who capitalized it after their stint on “SNL.” I hoped perhaps though that these seasoned comedians had something better up their sleeves.

“Grown Ups” stars Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, Kev...

25 Worst Movies Of 2009

Wow, there were some bad movies, like really bad, in 2009 but since we are optimists we like to think the good outnumbered the bad. Couples Retreat (25) had the cast and the budget to be a funny flick and it came out in the fourth quarter of 2009 when the best movies already came out. This movie was bad, not funny, and it might have marked th...
