13 Greatest Actors Turned Critically Acclaimed Directors
Very few actors are afforded success and fame in the brutally competitive film landscape. Those who miraculously do make have trouble-holding relevancy, as Hollywood trades aging veteran actors for relative and good-looking newcomers immediately destined to be the next big thing. But these screen presences who’ve been able to hold Hollywood’s attention even into their later years have also found a strong niche behind the camera, directing Oscar worthy films and Hollywood blockbusters that encapsulate audiences’ attention while reaping critics’ acclaim. Move over Scorsese and Spielberg, beca...

Ron Howard In No 'Rush' During 'Top Gear' Driving Challenge

July 8th, 2013 7:37pm EDT
Ron Howard
Ron Howard's new film Rush is all about pushing one's limits on the race track, but he wasn't able to put that into practice on Top Gear.

Howard plugged his new film on the show and tried his luck in the show's ongoing "Star in a Reasonably Priced Car" competition, but ended up near the bottom of the standings.

Howard's sluggish time of one minute, 49.9 seconds in the Vauxhall Astra Techline placed him second-to-last, only above Genesis rocker Mike Rutherford.

The director blamed his time having to drive with a left-handed stickshift. He told host Jeremy Clarkson, "First of all, I will...

Trailer Talk: This Week in Movies
Sadly, I haven’t caught last week’s pick yet: “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.” However I did have the misfortune of watching the David Gordon Green comedy “The Sitter,” which turned out to be a complete dud. If you haven’t already read my review, give it a look to find out why I think Jonah Hill deserves better.

Arriving in theaters this week are the Guy Ritchie sequel “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows,” the Roman Polanski parental dramedy “Carnage,” the third Chipmunks adventure “Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip-Wrecked,” and the Roger Corman themed documentary “Corman’s World: Exploits of a...

Expressing her delight, she said, "Like every closeted lesbian in the 1970s, I had a crush on Ron Howard. It's the truth. All gay girl...
