Josh Holloway was born July 20, 1969, in northern California but was raised in Georgia's Blue Ridge Mountains. He became interested in performing at a young age, and after one year at the University of Georgia he began modeling, traveling all over Europe and North America.
Eager to try his hand at acting, he moved to Los Angeles and landed roles in the films Cold Heart, Moving August, Mi Amigo, Sabretooth, and Dr. Benny. He also guest-starred on TV shows such as Angel, Walker, Texas Ranger, CSI, and NCIS. He got his big break in 2004 when he received the part of Sawyer on the hit series Lost.
In 2005, People magazine named Holloway one of the 50 "Most Beautiful People in the World." His hobbies include sailing, snowboarding, martial arts, motorcross, and playing the guitar.
For half a decade, actor Josh Holloway made his living with TV guest spots and supporting roles in movies most people have never heard of. But in 2004, that all changed when he landed the part of marooned conman James "Sawyer" Ford on the mindbending ABC drama Lost.
