Eastwood also keeps his plate full directing. His recent films include "Invictus," "Hereafter," "J. Edgar" and "A Star is Born."

Q&A: 'Flying Lessons' Director Derek Magyar

December 2nd, 2011 11:15am EST
Derek Magyar
Many actors aspire to direct; great directors like Ron Howard and Jon Favreau were actors first. That's the same career path that Derek Magyar is on. Still a working actor, he directed and produced the film Flying Lessons, which arrives in select theaters today.

The film has an intriguing cast - near-legend Hal Holbrook, Academy Award winner Christine Lahti, Cary Elwes (Glory, The Princess Bride, The X-Files), and Maggie Grace (Lost, Taken) at the top - that brings to life the story of Sophie (Grace)'s return home to the messy relationships of her past. As she tries to put the pieces ...

TV On DVD: 'ER: The Complete Fourteenth Season'

January 11th, 2011 8:00am EST
ER
Today sees the release of ER: The Complete Fourteenth Season from Warner Home Video. It's the longrunning medical drama's next-to-last season, presented in a five-disc, nineteen-episode set (this is the year that was abbreviated by the Writers Guild of America strike). Take a look with me inside the latest volume of cases and complications at Chicago's County General.

The Show

When ER was on, I was never a fan; I much preferred its competition, Chicago Hope. However, much like that series did an abrupt crash and burn in its final season, the fourteenth season of ER is not its finest -...

Carrie Preston
"True Blood" doesn't return until sometime this summer but natural blonde Carrie Preston, who plays spunky redheaded waitress Arlene, revealed some tidbits about season two (more creatures - yeah!) and what other projects she's currently working on.

Carrie Preston: Uh, yes, soft porn. It's good though, that's part of why people like it. It's surprising that way.

What can you tell me about your character Arlene in the new season?

Arlene is one of those people who is not very good without...
