We respect that kind of frugality - and today we pay homage to the stars that drive reasonably priced cars. Who knows? Maybe you drive the same car as one of ...

5/5/2012 10:30am EDT
Producers behind Dustin Hoffman's axed horse-racing drama Luck have been hit with fresh animal cruelty complaints from activists at the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

David Milch and Michael Mann ceased production on the HBO show in March after a horse was humanely put down following an accident at the studio's stables. It was the third equine death since filming began at California's Santa Anita racetrack.

PETA bosses celebrated the series cancellation after weeks of campaigning, but their joy at the show's end has been tinged with sadness after uncovering further cl...

Now, officials at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals have hit out at the TV network and the racing series' producers Hoffman, David Milch and Michael Mann, demanding they stop shooting the show.

A statement released to WENN reads, "Tragically, this morning, one of the horses in Luck's stable suffered an accident while returning to the stall.

Wife Prevented Dustin Hoffman From Flashing His Chest At The Oscars

2/10/2012 1:30pm EST
Dustin Hoffman
Dustin Hoffman became so bored of attending the annual Academy Awards, he once planned to liven up the event by writing a rude word on his chest and flashing it to the TV cameras.

The star has won two Oscars, for his performances in "Kramer vs. Kramer" and "Rain Man," and has notched up a slew of other nominations, but he insists the prize-giving is not as glamorous as it looks.

Hoffman reveals he once planned to liven up the show by scrawling an expletive on his body, but his wife wouldn't let him go through with the prank.

He tells Maxim magazine, "It's boring! It lasts forever, and do...

Spring Preview: 'Luck'

1/29/2012 12:45pm EST
HBO's Luck isn't accurately reflected by its title. It's much more calculated than that.

Even though the network previewed the first episode of the nine-part miniseries not so long ago, there should still be plenty of eyeballs as it officially arrives tonight, if only because of the pedigree. The series is written by David Milch, who already wowed HBO viewers with Deadwood, and directed by Michael Mann.

Its cast, led by Dustin Hoffman, is a cornucopia of familiar faces for TV buffs, including Dennis Farina (Law & Order), Jill Hennessy (Law & Order) and Richard Kind (Spin City). Even the s...

Michael Jackson pulled out of playing Peter Pan in Steven Spielberg's 1991 movie Hook because the director's vision for the film didn't match his own.

Spielberg admits Jackson was keen to take on the lead role in the film but balked at the idea of playing a lawyer who forgot he was the boy who never grew up.

The director tells Entertainment Weekly magazine, "Michael had always wanted to play Peter Pan, but I called Michael and I said, 'This is about a lawyer that is brought back to save his kids and discovers that he was once, when he was younger, Peter Pan.'

5/23/2011 10:00am EDT
The Hangover Part II
Johnny Depp set sail again last week as Captain Jack Sparrow in “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” the fourth entry in the series. After viewing the movie, I can honestly say that it’s not the best in the franchise, but certainly not the worst either. While nothing can really top the first one in my mind, this one gets back to the spirit of the original.

Captain Jack runs into an old love interest, Angelica (Penelope Cruz), who convinces him to join her on a quest for the Fountain of Youth. Sparrow unwittingly climbs aboard the vessel of Angelica’s father, Blackbeard (Ian M...
