BBC's 'Spooks' Signs Off After Nearly A Decade

Today sees the final hour of Spooks, the BBC's long-running and critically acclaimed espionage drama. After ten series and almost a decade on the air, the show signs off after its 85th episode on BBC One at 9 PM tonight.

The show first aired on May 13, 2002, telling the stories of a crack team of agents for Britain's elite spy agency MI5. It rose to become an institution of British TV, its ten series (seasons) virtually unheard of for a serial drama and more than that of other feted shows like Waking The Dead and Wire In The Blood.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer star Nicholas Brendon has become the latest former cast member to criticize plans for a big screen reboot of the hit TV show, branding it "a mistake".

The long-running series, which began as a 1992 film starring Kristy Swanson, is being re-imagined for a movie adaptation, with a new actress playing the cheerleader-turned-vampire hunter portrayed by Sarah Michelle Gellar on TV.

However Brendon, who played Xander Harris on the show, is worried the film will not find the same fan base as the TV phenomenon gained.

Former Buffy The Vampire Slayer star Alyson Hannigan has blasted plans for a big-screen spin-off of the show, branding the movie "a big mistake."

The franchise began with the 1992 film of the same name, starring Kristy Swanson, which spawned the small-screen series with Sarah Michelle Gellar in the lead role. Paris Hilton is set to shock fans by appearing as a black leather-clad, brunette dominatrix in the first trailer released online to promote her new film Repo! The Genetic Opera!

The socialite, who plays the daughter of a ruthless crime boss in the movie musical, is almost unrecognizable in the teaser for the film.

The actress, who played man-hungry Samantha Jones in the defunct HBO show, will play the manager of a gay rock star in "Him And Us."
