'Lawless' A Thrilling, Violent & Beautiful Portrait Of The American Outlaw

August 30th, 2012 7:40am EDT
'Lawless'
Prohibition, gangsters, brothers, Virginia, moonshine, a sadistic lawman, violence, lust, love and family...

That's some of the things you'll find in 'Lawless' directed by John Hillcoat ('The Road') and written by songwriter/musician Nick Cave (The Proposition). The film is based on Matt Bondurant's book 'The Wettest County in the World' which is his fictionalized account of his family.

The film tells the story of the infamous Bondurant brothers, Forrest, (Tom Hardy), Howard (Jason Clarke) and the youngest sibling, Jack (Shia LaBeouf) who made and sold moonshine in the 30's. They lived in...

Top 10 Batman Villains From Comics, TV And The Big Screen

July 19th, 2012 10:01pm EDT
Bane
The final installment of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, is upon us; and much like Heath Ledger's Joker the film's villains are once again posed to steal the show.

This time around we'll be reintroduced to three bad guys: Bane, (Tom Hardy), Catwoman (Anne Hathaway) and Ra's al Ghul (Liam Neeson). Both Bane and Catwoman made their first appearances in the original film run that Tim Burton started in the 1990s (and, fortunately, we'll be seeing a much different Bane in TDKR); and Ra's al Ghul returns to the series after his intro in Batman Begins.

But where do the...

Chelsea Handler's bawdy jokes have been cut from pal Reese Witherspoon's new movie in a bid to land the film a PG-13 rating.

Movie executives lost an appeal to lower the restrictive age rating of spy comedy "This Means War" on Thursday and it was slapped with an R-rating, which prohibits film fans under the age of 18 from seeing the movie without an adult.

But reports suggest officials at the Motion Picture Association ratings board have reconsidered the rating after Fox bosses agreed to cut out Handler's risque gags.

Review: 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy' Slow, Drawn-Out And Distinctively Drab

Tinker photo
I’m all for films that take their time. There’s nothing quite like the bravery of a picture that dares to engage by fleshing out those quiet moments and infusing character insights that longingly linger. In his previous film "Let The Right One In," Swedish filmmaker Tomas Alfredson wielded this delicate bravado like a master swordsman, bringing his slow and methodic style to the done-to-death tale of vampires to illicit freshness. Problem is that in his latest outing "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" the long book and material upon which the film is based and the unrushed pacing of Alfredso...
