Is 'Dexter' Coming Back To Showtime?

11/28/2015 12:53pm EST
Michael C. Hall
Dexter was an extremely popular show, but ended far too soon for many fans. New reports suggest that there will be a revival of sorts and that there will either be a "limited series" (not unlike Heroes Reborn) or a spin off (similar to Better Call Saul), but only under one condition: Michael C. Hall returns to reprise the role of Dexter Morgan.

Back in August, Screen Crush reported that Showtime exec David Nevins wants to see the show come back to life in some way.

"Dexter is the one show that I would think about [continuing]. It’s a question of when the timing is right. If there’s a will...

9/9/2014 8:21am EDT
Michael C Hall
"Dexter" and "Six Feet Under" star Michael C. Hall is joining the cast of Broadway's "Hedwig and the Angry Inch." The actor will play the titular East German transgender rocker.

Hall will join the production on Oct. 16 and play the character through Jan. 4. He will be taking over for current topliner Andrew Rannells, according to Variety.

Neil Patrick Harris famously won a Tony for the role, and producers hope Hall's TV reputation will draw an audience during the profitable holiday season.

Hall has quite a bit of theater experience. He starred in last season's "The Realistic Joneses" as...

Review: Authentically Unique 'Cold In July' Keeps Mickle In Master Of Mood Territory

5/23/2014 12:20pm EDT
Review: Authentically Unique 'Cold In July' Keeps Mickle In Mast
I admit it – I’m a huge Jim Mickle fan. Right from the filmmaker’s debut with the best of the 8 Films To Die For flick titled "Mulberry St.," there was obvious evidence of skilled craftsmanship. Following it up with the dark and visceral "Stake Land" and the five-star slow burn cannibal yarn "We Are What We Are" (firmly on my Top Ten list last year) showed that Mickle was not some hack – his genius was no fluke. So it’s fitting that his latest outing "Cold In July," based on the novel by "Bubba Ho-Tep" short story scribe Joe R. Lansdale, keeps in tone the director’s master of mood monike...

The new season picks up after the previous one's explosive cliffhanger, and we find out through flashbacks exactly what happened after Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) discovered Dex (Michael C. Hall) killing Travis Marshall. Fans have been waiting for her to catch on from the very beginning of the series, and the scene more than lives up to those high expectations, with fant...

Michael C. Hall And Jennifer Carpenter Reunite?

2/9/2012 2:44pm EST
Jennifer Carpenter , Michael C. Hall-TSB-007751.jpg
Dexter actor Michael C. Hall has sparked rumors of a reconciliation with his ex-wife Jennifer Carpenter after the co-stars were spotted walking arm-in-arm in California on Wednesday.

The couple's divorce was finalized in December, a year after Carpenter moved to end her two-year marriage, but now it appears the former lovers have reignited the spark in their relationship - they were snapped enjoying a romantic stroll along Venice Beach and cuddling on a bench.

The reunion won't come as too much of a surprise for fans - last year, Carpenter insisted there was no love lost between the coupl...

Michael C. Hall & Jennifer Carpenter's Divorce Finalized

12/6/2011 10:53pm EST
Michael C. Hall & Jennifer Carpenter
Dexter actor Michael C. Hall is a single man again after his divorce from co-star Jennifer Carpenter was finalized in Los Angeles last week.

The couple wed in 2008 but actress Carpenter filed for divorce from Hall last summer, citing irreconcilable differences.

And now the pair's marriage is officially over - Superior Court Judge John Sandoz made the duo's split official on Friday.

But although the two are no longer legally married, Carpenter insists she and her ex-husband will forever remain friends, especially since they continue to star in the same show.

During a recent E! News inter...

'Dexter' Recap: 'Nebraska' (6.08)

11/13/2011 9:55pm EST
After being visited by his dead brother last week, Dexter Morgan is a little messed up in this week's Dexter. Who could blame him? Plus, we take a step back to the fantastic fourth season...

If Brother Sam was the angel in Dexter's life, Brian (Christian Camargo) does a great job of being the devil on the other shoulder. "You don't turn the other cheek, you slice it," he reminds Dex, whose world is further rocked when Debra informs him that Arthur Mitchell's wife and daughter have been killed. She thinks it's the Trinity Killer striking again, but Dexter knows better. He suspects th...

'Dexter' Recap: 'Just Let Go' (6.06)

11/6/2011 10:00pm EST
This week's Dexter sees our hero make an important decision about his direction in life...while those around him continue to have no idea where they're headed.

Dex gets the news from Deb that Brother Sam has been shot, which forces him to abandon his stalking of Travis and makes him seriously angry. He quickly zeroes in on Leo Hernandez, a gang member who replaced the man Dex killed. He doesn't get a chance to exact justice, though, as Leo is shot and killed in a standoff with the cops.

All should be well, but Dexter finds himself not so convinced of Leo's guilt after all. The r...

'Dexter' Recap: 'A Horse of a Different Color' (6.04)

10/23/2011 9:08pm EDT
If last week's Dexter was more of a standalone episode, this week's throws us right back into the season-long arc, inducing squirms and gasps in equal measure.

Dexter's decided to go to the baptism Brother Sam invited him to after all, even though the idea of religious faith goes right over his head. It's too bad that they don't have time to have a discussion, because it might've come in handy when Dex is called out to deal with the "wicked rodeo" we saw at the end of last week's episode. New guy Mike (Billy Brown) quickly points out to the Metro team that it has something to do w...

'Dexter' Recap: 'Smokey and the Bandit' (6.03)

10/16/2011 10:00pm EDT
Last week's Dexter gave us a good idea where season six is headed. This week, we see a little more - just enough to get me concerned about that direction - but you'll have to wait for the real surprises.

Dexter's got a bad feeling when a murdered prostitute reminds him of the modus operandi of a serial killer he once tracked. He's convinced that the now-elderly Walter Kenney (Ronny Cox) hasn't come to Miami just to retire. Getting close to Kenney is not a good time for Dex, who has to suffer through the man's horrible golf game and near-constant complaining. It's funny if only for th...

Michael C. Hall Joins Fellow Cancer Survivors At Charity Walk

10/10/2011 10:43pm EDT
Michael C. Hall
Michael C. Hall joined fellow cancer survivors at a charity walk in Los Angeles on Sunday.

The Dexter star was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2009 and a year later went into remission and completed his final chemotherapy session to make a full recovery.

And now Hall has shown his support for the cancer community by showing up at UCLA's Drake Stadium to participate in the On Track for a Cure walk-a-thon to raise money in a bid to help researchers find a cure.

The actor later addressed the crowd and looked on as patients, family members and care givers gathered to hear speeches from ...

'Dexter' Recap: 'Once Upon A Time' (6.02)

10/9/2011 10:00pm EDT
He might be a serial killer, but this week's Dexter left me wanting to hug Dexter Morgan - after all, he's just realized that he may be his son's worst enemy.

Harrison's getting older now, and Dexter is disturbed to find out that his son has picked up on some of his father's habits, making repeated references to "daddy's box" of blood slides. Having previously stated that he doesn't want to pass his Dark Passenger on to the tot, Dex makes a painful decision at episode's end: that he can no longer show his son his real nature, only the one that everyone else believes to be true.

Previewing 'Dexter' Season 6 With Jennifer Carpenter

10/2/2011 11:30am EDT
Dexter Morgan has sliced his way into a bloody niche on TV. As it begins its sixth season tonight, Showtime's Dexter can boast both critical acclaim and an audience that's enraptured by the life of Miami's most loved serial killer. Dexter's biggest supporter - and also the largest threat to his lethal secret - is his sister, homicide detective Debra Morgan.

The show might be called Dexter, but Deb has been my favorite character on the series. She might have a smart mouth, but beyond that, she has an earnestness to bust the bad guys that I find admirable. She also displays a remarka...

Early 2011 Emmy Predictions: Here's Who Will Win

8/20/2011 6:00pm EDT
Mad Men
It may be a little early to predict the Emmy winners, but unlike the Oscars, not much changes in the Emmy Awards season once the nominations are out.

The Emmys can be very tough to predict, but we'll take our best shot. Here's who we think will go home with the gold on Sept. 18th. Do you agree?

Outstanding Drama Series
'Boardwalk Empire'
'Friday Night Lights'
'Game of Thrones'
'The Good Wife'
'Mad Men'

After yet another outstanding season, it looks like 'Mad Men' may make it four in a row. Its only real competition is 'Boardwalk Empire,' which took the Golden Globe, and...

TV On DVD: 'Dexter: Season Five'

8/18/2011 3:10pm EDT
This week, CBS Home Entertainment released season five of Showtime's hit series Dexter on DVD and Blu-Ray. Here's my look inside the DVD version.

The Show

After a spectacular fourth season (I don't know about you, but I have a really hard time watching John Lithgow in those 3rd Rock from the Sun reruns now), Dexter had a tough act to follow. While I don't dislike season five as much as some fans, I can see where their disappointment comes from - it's a worthwhile go, but the standard was set high and it didn't quite get there.

Julia Stiles (10 Things I Hate About You) is the season...

Dexter Gets His Wings (Photo)

8/12/2011 12:00pm EDT
Dexter | Photo Credits: Showtime
Producers promised Dexter would explore faith this season and in this first-look photo, it looks like he's earned his wings — in blood, at least.

Dexter Exclusive: In Season 6, Dexter finds... faith?

When "the avenging angel returns," Dexter (Michael C. Hall) will take on single parenting while hiding his secret hobby from his increasingly suspicious sister. The Showtime series will further the spirituality theme with the addition to the cast of Edward James Olmos as a renowned professor of religious history and Mos as an ex-con who found his mission in life by helping other cons. Colin H...

Trailer Talk: This Week in Movies - 'Sucker Punch,' 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2' & More

3/21/2011 11:30am EDT
Sucker Punch
Things were pretty busy for me last week, since I had the chance to see three of the films premiering and interview the writer and director for one of them. I saw “Paul,” “Limitless,” and “The Lincoln Lawyer,” all of which were reasonably enjoyable.

Check out my reviews of “Paul” and “Limitless” if you have not already and definitely read my interview with writer Leslie Dixon and director Neil Burger, for their movie “Limitless.”

I haven’t posted a review of “The Lincoln Lawyer” yet, so I’ll summarize my thoughts for you as usual. Even as a shyster attorney, who makes a living defe...

The actress joined the cast of the hit crime drama earlier this year and bonded well with leading actor Hall.

But she has shot down rumors their friendship has become anything other than platonic following the news of his divorce from Carpenter, who plays his onscreen sister in the drama.

These Might Be Explanations For The 'Dexter' Finale

12/14/2010 9:58am EST
Dexter Season 5 Finale
If you're like me, you may be still kicking Dexter finale around in your head. Or critiquing it to your friends. Or just wondering what just happened. Well, in the spirit of her somewhat vague answers before the final episode, exec producer Sara Colleton has come back with some possible clarifications for "The Big One" in separate interviews with two different sources. I'm not sure how much these will help put those nagging questions to rest for you, but at least you can hear it straight from the people responsible.

Obviously, don't keep reading if you haven't seen the finale, but if ...
