'The Mindy Project' Review Season 2, Episode 2: 'The Other Dr. L'

September 25th, 2013 10:19am EDT
The Mindy Project
Welcome to one of the worst ever episodes of The Mindy Project. It’s an episode that proves that the writers have given up caring, haven’t listened to any of the criticism from the first season, and revel in their insensitivity.

What Went Wrong:

Too Much James Franco: Multiple times in the episode, James Franco attempts to be cute. Other characters make mention of his cuteness. Problem is: Franco’s baby talk doesn’t come anywhere near cute. It’s creepy and evokes images of the sort of serial killer who keeps his mother’s dead body under his bed. Even though he was only in two episodes, ...

Bill Hader is leaving Saturday Night Live's cast after eight seasons on the show.

A representative for Bill Hader has dismissed reports the actor has signed up to star in a movie adaptation of hit TV show Baywatch.

His rep has branded the speculation "completely incorrect" and tells GossipCop.com that Hader is "not attached" to the project.

Hasselhoff revealed last year that he plans to play himself in the film instead of revisiting his role as lifeguard Mitc...

September 20th, 2012 2:07pm EDT
Clint Eastwood
Clint Eastwood was left laughing when a reporter pointed out the empty chairs on the red carpet at the premiere of his new movie, Trouble with the Curve.

Bleachers were set up for a backdrop to the red carpet for the baseball flick, and someone was quick to make the reference to his infamous GOP convention speech that has him debating with an empty chair representing President Obama.

"Oh my God, yes," Eastwood said with a laugh when he realized he was surrounded by empty seats.

CBS asked director Robert Lorenz if the speech was overshadowing the rest of the film. He told them, "Some peop...

An animated film described as "a kids movie that the parents will enjoy" is becoming a bit of a hackneyed characterization. Really, what animated film in 2009 isn't described like that? And lately it's not even true. Are "Wall-E" and "Up" really kids films? Wouldn't it be better to describe those films as "parent films that kids will enjoy ?"

The underlying messages in recent Pixar films are too broad to ignore or simply write off as kid films. Is it even possible to have a children's film today without some deep-seated communiqué about saving the planet? Enter "Cloudy With a Chance of ...

Trailer Talk: This Week In Movies - 'The Informant,' 'Jennifer's Body' & More

The Informant
Last week, the long weekend gave me a chance to see "District 9" in the movie theater. The film's science fiction elements took a back seat to its moral objective however, which was roughly to serve as an allegory for the Apartheid in South Africa.

Treatment of the aliens by humans, as a subhuman species really becomes emotionally jarring through the intense blood and gore that comprise the latter half of the movie. Audiences ultimately walk away from "District 9" disgusted by the inhumanity of the human race.

A nontraditional narrative, "District 9" is largely told through the use ...

Making the transition from adolescence into adulthood is a critical phase in an individual's life. This coming-of-age period, which has been coined "emerging adulthood" by Clark University research professor, Dr. Jeffrey Arnett, is characterized by identity exploration, self-focus, instability, a belief in boundless possibilities, and feeling in-between. According to Arnett's theory, in industrialized societies the types of experiences that people have who are in their late teens to mid-20's have changed dramatically over the past 50 years. Instead of being quick to make that walk down the ...
