Veteran actor Louis Gossett Jr. has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. The "An Officer and a Gentleman" star has started an intensive treatment program to battle the disease.

Gossett reveals the cancer is in its early stages and he's determined to remain optimistic so he can get back to work as soon as possible.

He says, "I count this diagnosis among the many challenges I have faced in my life and overcome. I expect this to be no different."

Actor Jim Caviezel's portrayal of Jesus in a new audiobook has made history at the 2008 Evangelical Book of The Year Awards. The Passion of The Christ star voiced the role of Christ in a 21-hour New Testament package, called The World of Promise and the 'audio Bible' has become the first non-book to claim the top religious prize in 30 years.

As well as Caviezel, the audiobook features the voices of Terence Stamp as God, Marisa Tomei, Richard Dreyfuss, Louis Gossett Jr. and Luke Perry.

Veteran actor Louis Gossett Jr. claims his signature has been forged to pay for a pair $37,000 Los Angeles Lakers basketball tickets. The star insists he was offered the premium seats at the Staple Center but never took the tickets nor agreed to pay for them. Gossett Jr. alleges the signature on the seats contract is a fake, reports TMZ.

The Oscar winner claims he hasn't been served with a lawsuit from L.A. Arena Funding over non-payment of the tickets and first heard of their reported legal action in the media.

Oscar winner Louis Gossett, Jr. has signed on to host a new reality show in which teams compete to rebuild communities in hurricane-ravaged New Orleans, Louisiana. The seven-part series, Renew Orleans, will be filmed later this spring.

Jim Caviezel, who starred in Mel Gibson's Passion Of The Christ, will reprise the role of Jesus in a star-studded audio edition of The Bible. The 25-hour edition of "The World Of Promise: New Testament Audio Bible" will be released in October on 20 CDs.

The cast will also include Richard Dreyfuss as Moses, Marisa Tomei as Mary Magdalene, Stacy Keach as Paul, Louis Gossett Jr. as John and Lou Diamond Phillips as Mark. Terence Stamp will provide the voice of God.
