'Chuck' Recap: 'Chuck Versus Sarah'/'Chuck Versus The Goodbye' (Series Finale)
It's the end of the road for Chuck. And there's a lot at the end of that road: laughter, tears, and romance, even if it's not in the way you might want.
Sarah, still believing the villainous Quinn (Angus MacFadyen) is her handler, is making Chuck more than a little confused. Faced with the idea that he almost lost her and Morgan because of the Intersect, he launches a mission to destroythe thing that changed his entire life. He's shocked when Sarah uploads the Intersect instead and leaves the whole team trapped in the lab. Even she is surprised when Quinn activates the explosive h...

Q&A: 'Chuck' Star Adam Baldwin & Co-Creator Chris Fedak Say Finale Is 'Epic And Special'
Tonight, NBC's Chuck signs off after five seasons - but not before I got some parting words from star Adam Baldwin and co-creator Chris Fedak.
Chris, what can we expect from tonight's finale?
Chris Fedak: We have essentially an epic finale for you guys. It’s going to be different than anything we’ve ever done before on Chuck. We knew that we were building toward our final episode, and we really wanted to put together something special.
It’s going to be a two-hour finale. The first part of it is called "Chuck Versus Sarah" and the second part’s called "Chuck Versus the Goodbye." Everyth...

'Chuck' 5.08 'Chuck Versus The Baby' Review
This week's Chuck boasts some very familiar special guests - and a baby. It's unashamedly sentimental, but that's just fine for a fun adventure as we near the end of the series.
Five years ago, in Budapest, Sarah was hanging out with Peter Burke...wait, wrong show, but that is Tim DeKay of White Collar as Sarah's handler Kieran Ryker. He orders her to take out a dining room full of thugs and rescue a baby. Now Ryker's defected, and that cute little baby is coming back to haunt Sarah.
Seems the tot was in line for a huge fortune, and rather than turn him over to Ryker so that he coul...

'Chuck' Recap: 'Chuck Versus The Curse' (5.06)
On this week's Chuck, the CIA is ticked, Morgan thinks he's a ninja, and Rebecca Romijn ruins date night for Ellie and Awesome. "Chuck Versus The Curse" is a typical Chuck episode. It could also have been a lot more.
Devon and Ellie pick an unfortunate time to play spies, as the CIA confuses them with Chuck and Sarah (via Chuck's OpenTable account of all things?). Although this is eventually clarified, they believe Robyn Cunnings (Romijn) when she says that she works with Chuck, and get themselves abducted. Robyn wants The Omen (not the movie, the virus from "Chuck Versus The Hack O...

'Chuck' Recap: 'Chuck Versus The Business Trip' (5.04)
I don't know about you, Chuck fans, but to me a Buy More convention sounds like fun. There's one in Riverside this week, and it's the start of more fun, action-packed shenanigans that resurrect just what makes Chuck tick.
Team Bartowski is determined to get the Intersect out of Morgan's head in order to stop the CIA from having him killed. This briefly reunites them with General Beckman (Bonita Friederecy), but also brings Decker (Richard Burgi, who seems to have found a second wind in his career playing jerks) back to say that a top-flight assassin named "The Viper" is going to c...

'Chuck' Recap: 'Chuck Versus The Bearded Bandit' (5.02)
Season five of Chuck got off to a good start with last week's season premiere. It keeps rolling this week, with a second episode that starts to lay out where the final year is headed.
This week, we meet the competition: Verbanski Corp, led by Gertrude Verbanski (that's The Matrix star Carrie-Anne Moss, sounding like she's narrating a Cyberdyne advert). She used to work for the KGB, and Casey really doesn't like her, having had a nasty run-in (and subsequent fling) with her in 1995. Since then, she's put together a whole compound of minions, and is out to recruit a few more from Tea...

TV on DVD: 'Chuck: The Complete Fourth Season' [Blu-Ray]
In case you missed it, NBC's Chuck is moving to Fridays for its final season beginning October 28. To prepare you for the end of one of TV's cult hits, Warner Home Video recently released the complete fourth season on Blu-Ray and DVD. Here's an evaluation of the Blu-Ray edition.
The Show
I reviewed Chuck throughout the fourth season, and on second glance, my opinions haven't changed all that much. There are a lot of things that work, and some that just don't - which makes it pretty much like every other TV series out there. I have yet to see any show have a perfect season. What ...

'Chuck' 4.22 'Chuck Versus The Cliffhanger' Review
Chuck played by the numbers: it set up a big event (Chuck and Sarah's wedding) for its big finale, an episode which you can consider even bigger as we now know it also sets the table for the show's fifth and final season. It wasn't the whiz-bang finale I was expecting after all the hype, but it was one that was true to what the show stands for, and that's good enough for me.
To save Sarah, Team Bartowski must get the antidote she needs from Alexei Volkoff, which pits them against hardened CIA operative Clyde Decker (Richard Burgi of Desperate Housewives and The Sentinel). True to...

'Chuck' 4.23 'Chuck Versus The Last Details' Review
Like our title character, Chuck fans know that when you say everything is perfect and nothing can go wrong, something - a lot of somethings, actually - will go wrong. In this case, 'wrong' sees Ellie turn into the wedding planner equivalent of a Bridezilla and Chuck's mom get kidnapped by Vivian Volkoff. No big deal, right? (Obvious sarcasm is obvious.)
"Chuck Versus The Last Details" feels like a typical Chuck episode, in that it derives much of its humor from our heroes' errors, quirks and mishaps, like Jeff and Lester having hours of footage of Sarah from the Buy More, or Chuck a...

'Chuck' 4.17 'Chuck Versus The First Bank of Evil' Review
First things first: I am in love with this episode title. It sounds like something out of a comic book, and I think it's cool.
Having said that, this episode can be seen as the second part of "Chuck Versus The Masquerade," picking up as Vivian McArthur Volkoff (Lauren Cohan) is quickly visited by Satan - I mean, Riley (Ray Wise), her father's lawyer, who is not happy when she declines to take over the family business. He's so unhappy that he pulls a gun on her, leading her to knock him upside the head with a vase and escape with the mysterious card she found in the safe. The card lead...

'Chuck' 4.14 'Chuck Versus The Seduction Impossible' Review
Chuck has a tough act to follow after last week's psuedo-season (psuedo-series, even) finale. Now that Chuck and Sarah are reunited (and engaged!) the members of Team Bartowski are all too happy to get back to spy business, which means rescuing Roan Montgomery (John Larroquette) from Marrakesh, where he was last seen investigating (what else?) a group of female mercenaries led by Fatima (Spartacus: Blood and Sand star Lesley-Ann Brandt). Montgomery isn't all that happy about being rescued, especially since one errant sneeze gets everyone except Casey thrown in the dungeon. Since the...
READ MORE'Chuck' 4.12 'Chuck Versus The Gobbler' Review
We learned from last week's Chuck that Sarah was planning to go undercover in order to help Mary Bartowski take down Alexei Volkoff. This week, the ongoing plot once again returns to center stage - and it begins with Sarah beating the stuffing out of Casey. No, really.
It's been a few weeks since she's gone under, and having successfully pulled off several rogue jobs (and changed her hair color), she's come to the attention of Volkoff. She appeals to his romantic side, then disarms three of his bodyguards for measure, and that gets her a hug. (Yes, even bad guys hug people.) Her fi...

'Chuck' 4.11 'Chuck Versus The Balcony' Review
When we left Chuck about a month and a half ago, it was one awkward Thanksgiving. It's no wonder that Chuck is taking stock of his life and wanting to propose to Sarah. Fortunately, just after he finds out she has "major proposal issues," Team Bartowski is shipped to a French chateau to recover a nanochip before a terrorist. This would seem the perfect opportunity to accomplish two things at once, but of course it wouldn't be that easy or we'd have a very short episode.
Recovering the nanochip requires going to the chateau and retrieving it from a bottle of wine, but not before sai...

'Bones' Season Four Spoilers; 'Chuck' Preview
Occasionally one of the compelling lead actors of a show grabs attention both in character and out of it. David Boreanaz is one of those actors. Famous for starring in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel," the playful prankster now stars aside Emily Deschanel in the crime dramedy "Bones."
During the "Bones" panel at Comic Con on Friday, July 25, Boreanaz brought a bright energy and excitement to the crowd when they would usually be winding down after a long day. The panel consisted of Boreanaz, creator Hart Hanson, and actors Michaela Conlin, Tamara Taylor, and John Francis Daley. T...
