Singing Stars: The 22 Best Actor-Musicians
We recently gave you the 10 worst actors turned musicians, but it’s worth mentioning there are plenty of actors and actresses who were able to translate their talents to music as well - and vice versa for musicians breaking into the acting business. In no particular order, here are 22 of the Best Actor-Musicians.

Jennifer Hudson

Hudson was introduced to the public through American Idol, where she is still considers one of the best contestants to have ever auditioned. Despite that, the american public voted her off the show and she came in seventh place. Since then, she has won an Academ...

Childish Gambino Blasts Label: 'Buy Me Out Of This Contract'

April 15th, 2014 5:03pm EDT
Childish Gambino
Childish Gambino, a.k.a. Donald Glover, isn't happy with the way Glassnote Records is handling the release of his latest single.

Yesterday the music video for Sweatpants was released via his Deep Web Tour blog. The video features the rapper walking through a diner and having a Groundhog Day episode of recurrences. While Glover wouldn't describe why, he appeared furious in a series of tweets following the video's release.

He wrote over nine posts, "So this sweatpants video and blog was important to us. And it wasn't handled correctly. We were told a lot of things were gonna happen and they...

Review: Childish Gambino 'Because The Internet' - One Of 2013's Most Ambitious Albums

December 10th, 2013 3:10pm EST
Childish Gambino Because The Internet
The saying in basketball is “you live by the three, you die by the three.” What does a basketball saying have to do with a hip-hop you ask? Well, instead of living or dying from shot selection, Childish Gambino (Donald Glover) thrives more often than not from his ambition on his 2013 effort Because of the Internet.  Just how ambitious is this affair that hails from the same label that houses Mumford and Sons? Well, it is accompanied by 75-page script featured on the site http://becausetheinter.net.  Ultimately, I appreciate Gambino’s willingness to go outside of the box in what sometimes ca...

October 17th, 2013 1:07pm EDT
Donald Glover
Community star Donald Glover has shared a series of emotional thoughts on Instagram, alluding to what's going on in his life and his fears for what's to come in the future.

"I'm afraid of the future," he begins on a piece of Marriott hotel stationary. "I'm afraid my parents won't live long enough to see my kids. I'm afraid my show will fail." Glover is limiting his appearances on Community this season to work on FX series Atlanta and his upcoming Childish Gambino album, "Because the Internet."

He goes on to write, "I'm afraid my girl will get pregnant at not the exact time we want. I'm ...

Fashion Fails: Rihanna's Red Leopard Spots, J-Woww Returns, More

July 28th, 2013 1:07pm EDT
Rihanna
It's Fashion Fail Time! That means we take a break from letting you know how good all of your favorite stars look to show the other side of fashion: the fails!

Rihanna wore this gag-inducing onesie earlier this week. The color is terrible, and it's exacerbated by the leopard print. There's also the un-classy cut-out to show off her tattoo.

Diane Keaton's style is certainly unique, in that she usually wears clothing you'd generally find on the opposite sex. Here, we have Keaton in garish plaid, a giant waist belt, and a black bowler.

Jenni "J-Woww" Farley has been making a habit o...

Childish Gambino, AKA Donald Glover, Performs With Broken Foot At Coachella

April 15th, 2012 4:30pm EDT
Donald Glover
Rapper Childish Gambino hit the stage at the Coachella festival in California on Saturday with a broken foot.

The "Freaks & Geeks" hitmaker and actor, real name Donald Glover, performed with a surgical boot on his foot and asked fans to supply the energy for the set.

He said, "I'm bouncin' with a broken foot!"

Bambino's famous pals Kendrick Lamar and Danny Brown also joined him onstage to help him 'bounce.'

The rap star was forced to cancel a number of live performances after he broke his foot during a show in Florida last month.

After a hospital visit, the hitmaker released a statemen...

Will This Be The End Of 'Community' Or Can Greendale Be Saved?

December 12th, 2011 3:15pm EST
community
NBC’s “Community,” a show that is “streets ahead” of its contemporaries, is likely to suffer the same fate as another famous show that couldn’t be saved by its cult status: FOX’s “Arrested Development” which ran from 2003-2006 and arguably launched the TV-on-DVD phenomenon. Like “Development,” the brilliance of “Community” comes from the show’s unwillingness to pander to the audience or go for cheap laughs (unless they are intentional/ironic). The writers of the show are also keen on building up punch lines over the course of an entire season and even stretching jokes across seasons. Even t...

Interview: Joel McHale And Guest Star John Goodman Joke About Third Season Of 'Community'

September 23rd, 2011 11:00am EDT
john goodman
“John [Goodman] is terribly disruptive. He parked his car on the stage and said ‘This is my parking space,’” Joel McHale says of the sitcom legend who is guest starring on this season of “Community.” Goodman clarifies, “I parked it on a stagehand.” The two are joking, obviously, but this back and forth banter is a perfect example of the hour-long “gush fest” the two actors engaged in when discussing the new season of “Community.”

McHale returns for Season Three as Jeff Winger, the cocky ex-lawyer who runs a small, ragtag study group at Greendale Community College. Goodman will appear as Vi...

‘Community’ Recap: Biology 101

September 23rd, 2011 10:04am EDT
community
One of the most entertaining aspects of NBC’s “Community,” now entering Season Three, is its ability to never take itself too seriously. From “Pulp Fiction”-inspired episodes to claymation hallucinations to Sergio Leone-style paintball competitions, “Community” is one of the most inventive shows currently on television.

The episode kicks off with an over-the-top musical number featuring the entire cast (save Chevy Chase’s Pierce Hawthorne who left the group at the end of last season) which describes the characters’ goals for this year (meaning season). As it turns out, the sequence is just...

Before tuning in for the premiere of “Community” this Thursday on NBC, we were lucky enough to chat with co-stars Joel McHale and Alison Brie about going back to school for a sophomore season and all the crazy chemistry on the set of their hilarious hit comedy.

Fan favorites, Joel McHale and Alison Brie play the study group’s de facto leader, Jeff Winger, and its most studious pupil, Annie Edison. After their characters shared an unexpected kiss in a mid-season episode, the blogosphere was buzzing about the pair’s great chemistry. However, their romantic reunion on the season finale was de...

Interview: Fan Favorite Danny Pudi Eating Up 'Community' And Webisode Roles

April 30th, 2010 9:52am EDT
Danny Pundi - Star Brow
Danny Pudi has easily become a fan favorite on NBC’s new sitcom hit Community, as Abed, a Greendale student with an interest in film studies and an encyclopedia of knowledge about pop culture in his brain, who may or may not have Asperger’s. Due to Pudi, Abed has become so much more than just a character pushed to the side, lost in a sea of louder, more veteran comedians.

"I'm very fortunate," Pudi admitted on a phone interview with Starpulse, "because I think the writers have given me so much to work on and expand on, and you kind of never know in comedy how these things will work out bei...

'Community' Recap: 'The Art of Discourse'

April 30th, 2010 9:10am EDT
Community
Put on your homage-spotting caps, it's another new episode of Community.

After last-week's dead-ringer mafia movie/Scorcese parody, the writers took on the godfather of college hijinx flicks- Animal House.

It all begins with Abed, the catalyst for all the meta self-awareness in the Greendale universe, trying to complete his freshman year bucket list by recreating gags culled from classic college comedies.

Troy agrees to be his Morgan Freeman character and is promptly pantsed by Abed, who is disappointed Troy isn't wearing the traditional white heart-print boxers. Troy returns the favor (...
