Brad Pitt Commends President Obama's Policy On Marijuana

December 20th, 2012 4:20pm EST
Brad Pitt
Stars including Brad Pitt and Danny Glover have praised Barack Obama after the President declared that prosecuting recreational pot users is "not a top priority."

Hollywood actor Pitt is an executive producer of new documentary The House I Live In, about the country's war on drugs, and he has thrown his support behind Obama after the politician insisted police have "bigger fish to fry" and won't be "going after recreational users in states that have determined that it's (marijuana) legal."

Pitt and his co-producers, Glover, John Legend and Russell Simmons, say in a statement, "President...

'Touch' Recap: 'Safety In Numbers' Saves A Few Lives

March 30th, 2012 1:14am EDT
Touch
So far, Touch is coming together pretty nicely, with its intriguing pilot and solid second episode. This third one begins with Martin getting a call from the board and care facility, and he shows up much to the annoyance of Clea, who warns him to be careful. Both of them are surprised to find that Jake has escaped from his room again, and he's writing a new number: 3287.

As Clea's leading him back to his room, Jake slips a clipping of a dragon with the number on it into his father's jacket. Martin takes the number to our wise old guy, Teller (Danny Glover), who warns him to keep h...

'Touch' Recap: '1+1=3' Is Wrong Math, But Great TV

March 23rd, 2012 1:04am EDT
Touch
It's been awhile since we saw the Touch pilot, but the show is finally here to stay and for my money, it's the best new show of this TV season.

"I'm not taking him back there," Martin tells Clea when she shows up at his apartment, wanting to take Jake back to the boarding facility. It's the very next day after the events of the pilot, and Martin is insistent that his son is trying to communicate with him. Yet when Clea threatens to call the police, Martin reconsiders. Before he leaves, Jake writes the phone number to Arnie's Pawn Shop on his father's hand, the last four digits of ...

'Touch' Recap: 'Pilot' (1.01)

January 26th, 2012 1:15am EST
Touch
Although it doesn't officially bow until March 19, FOX gave us an early look at the Kiefer Sutherland-led Touch tonight, and it was a glimpse at a series that could be something fantastic.

At face value, Martin Bohm couldn't be more different than Jack Bauer. He's an average, working-class guy interrupted from his work at JFK Airport so that he can get his mute son Jake down from a cell tower. Soon afterward, the number 318 starts popping up, whether it's on the back of a school bus, or on the knuckles of a random man in a convenience store (Titus Welliver, looking totally differen...

Everyone loves a hero. They stand up for what’s right, battle the forces of evil, and somehow manage to look sexy in spandex. But sometimes one hero isn’t enough. Sometimes the problem is too great for any one man (or Superman) to handle. Sometimes audiences want to hear a dick-joke while justice is being served. That’s where Dynamic Duos come in. Two heroes, paired together, fighting the good fight and keeping us laughing the whole way through. That’s what audiences love more than anything. To honor the release of Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows, let’s take a look at the best on-screen cr...

A conman who netted $30 million by targeting actor Danny Glover and a civil rights group is facing up to 20 years in jail.

Glover introduced Cohen to Vanguard president Hari Dillon, and they eventually invested a total of $30 million in Cohen's company - but the Microsoft deal didn't exist and Cohen was no longer even working for the business he claimed was about to be...

'Psych' Recap: 'Dead Man's Curveball' (6.05)

November 9th, 2011 11:00pm EST
Psych
Psych goes out to the ballgame this week, and treats us to a fantastic time. The only way this episode could get better is if it had come with a box of Cracker Jack.

Minor league manager Mel Hornsby (the always fantastic Danny Glover) comes to Shawn asking him to look into the death of his hitting coach. To do so, Shawn and Gus join the team - even if Gus has to be the mascot. It's clear pretty early on that the victim was drugged, because Shawn makes the mistake of drinking a water bottle in the dead guy's house and likewise gets high on speed. (And James Roday does a pretty good ...

Veteran actor Danny Glover was honored for his contribution to American cinema at the Deauville American Film Festival last week.

Glover was honored on Wednesday, and he showed up to his award presentation wearing a casual tan suit, a brown baseball cap and a pair of... Vibram FiveFingers sport shoes?

We're not sure if Danny's trying to start a new trend, or if he has foot problems and needs to wear them, or what the deal is but, really dude?

Maybe he jogged to the event from his hotel.

How do you make this already strong season of Leverage even better? Bring in Danny Glover. His appearance is not a stunt, but a bonus as a talented cast continues to shine.

A Look At The 'Predator' Franchise

There are few science fiction horror franchises as popular and well known as the Predator series. It came out only a year after James Cameron's equally well received series Aliens began, and the two franchises inspired dozens of films, TV shows, comic books, and horror novels afterward. Man vs. the wild became man vs. an alien creature, and the predator specifically is one of the most terrifying monsters to ever cross the big screen. Intelligent, powerful, and stealthy, the Predator hunts down humans or aliens alike and killing them with a single minded intensity. Starpulse.com decided to t...

Stop In The Name Of The Law: The Best Of The Buddy Cop Genre

February 25th, 2010 9:27am EST
Cop Out
Buddy cop movies involve two characters with completely different styles - usually one by the book and a wild one with no fear. They reluctantly team up to stop a crime and become friends in the process. These two characters usually can’t stand one another in the beginning, but as time passes they begin to appreciate the other’s perspective. They blend the excitement of an action movie with the wit of comedies, creating a very entertaining experience.

In honor of the latest film in this genre, this week’s “Cop Out” starring Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan, we're spotlighting some of our fa...

2012
At some point this week I hope to catch the wacky comedy "The Men Who Stare at Goats." While I have read some bad reviews of the film, I believe my tendency to disagree with the mainstream, could be a wild card for my own appraisal of the movie.

I'm having difficulty believing the collection of George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges could contribute to a horrific film considering I how much appreciate their abilities on screen.

Roland Emmerich destroys the world yet another time this week with his apocalyptic tale "2012." The quirky animation of Wes Anders...

Our Favorite Movie Cameos

October 14th, 2009 2:20pm EDT
Our Favorite Movie Cameos
There are a lot of modern movies that love to give little winks at the audience, and one of the easiest ways to do that is through the use of cameo appearances. A cameo is when a well known celebrity or important person shows up for a brief appearance in a movie. It can be a non-speaking random role, or perhaps a whole scene that steals the show. Whatever the case may be, oftentimes in a film the cameo ends up being the most memorable part of the whole movie. Take "Zombieland" for example, out in theaters now, but there's no spoilers here. Just go see the film and you'll see. Here's a look ...

Movie Remakes & Recastings We Hope To Never See

In the wake of the current brain-draining drive to remake just about everything Hollywood has ever had to offer, there are some films that are so sacred they should never be touched. This is a blatant retort to the deluge of watered down franchises, remakes, medium changes, etc. It ranges in levels of snark from low to apocalyptic strength.

My frustration with this extremely long trend came to a fever pitch after watching the Obsessed trailer. Anyone even peripherally familiar with Fatal Attraction could easily catch the obvious, racially spurred recasting of a classic film.
