'Strike Back' Flashback: Season 1, Episode 5

5/29/2015 12:09pm EDT
'Strike Back' Flashback: The Worst Kind Of Family Business, Part
In "Cinemax Season 1, Episode 5," the Strike Back boys head to Darfur and collide with a very bad man named Gerald Crawford. We know he's bad, because he's portrayed by Iain Glen, whose best known roles include menacing Richard Armitage in Spooks and being the villain in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. Some people are just very good at playing bad.

Crawford's daughter, Dr. Clare Somersby (Laura Haddock, Guardians of the Galaxy and Da Vinci's Demons), is not so evil. She's working at a primary care clinic, which is the TV kiss of death (remember the Transporter: The Series episode "Beacon of Hope"...

15 Famous Scottish Actors
As the citizens of Scotland decide whether or not to declare independence from the United Kingdom, we're saluting some of the best actors from the country known for wonderful things such as kilts, scotch, bagpipes and Loch Ness monster.

Gerard Butler was born in Glasgow and was raised in the town of Paisley. One of his first roles was for the Scottish Youth Theater in a production of "Oliver!" He later put his acting ambition aside and enrolled in a law program at Glasgow University. After graduating, he moved to Los Angeles, Calif., and kicked off his showbiz career as an extra in "The B...

'Game Of Thrones' Season Four Trailer: The Red Viper Is Coming

1/13/2014 6:01pm EST
Game of Thrones
The first full-length trailer for season four of Game of Thrones has finally arrived, revealing new characters, battles, betrayals, struggles and... that there's still three months we have to wait for the April 6 premiere.

Producers packed a ton of stuff into the 1:45 trailer, which debuted Sunday night on HBO and picks up where the events of last season left off.

An aerial view of King's Landing dominates the opening shot of the preview as a dragon's shadow flies over the city. The city is very clean and peaceful looking, leading us to believe this is part of a dream sequence.

Cut to Ki...

'Game Of Thrones' Recap: Season 2, Episode 5 - 'The Ghost Of Harrenhal'

4/30/2012 7:52pm EDT
Game of Thrones
If there’s one thing “Game of Thrones” doesn’t do, is waste time. Last week’s episode closed with shots of sorceress Melisandre birthing some monstrous shadow, a wispy, manlike demon summoned for some mysterious bidding. This week’s episode, “The Ghost of Harrenhaal,” opened rather routinely: Catelyn and Renly were chatting about kingly things while Brienne helped Renly remove his armor. And then, with a fellow swoop, the shadow demon entered, stabbed Renly, and fled. All in the first five minutes.

The abruptness of the deed was cold, indeed. Brienne cried out in horror at the loss of her ...

'Game Of Thrones' Recap: Season 2, Episode 4 - 'Garden Of Bones'

Game of Thrones
If last night's episode of "Game of Thrones" doesn't get people talking, I don't know what will.

I'm sure dedicated book fans were expecting those final shots, when sorceress Melisandre gave birth to… a shadow baby? As a non-book reader, I'm murky on the details. But I do know that I finished this episode with an audible exhale of breath. Not only was it the most outwardly fantastical scene of the show so far (with the exception, perhaps, of Dany's dragons), but it was wrought with tension. I was expecting the birth of an illegitimate Stannis baby, after their steamy sex scene last week. W...

'Game Of Thrones' Recap: Meet Brienne Of Tarth And Margaery Tyrell In 'What Is Dead May Never Die'

Game of Thrones
"Game of Thrones" is nothing if not expansive (understatement of the century). Characters who get the silent treatment for long drags of time have a tendency to crop up as soon as they’re forgotten. That reinsertion takes centerfold in this week’s installment, with Renly Baratheon’s quest for glory as the overarching storyline.

Like his brothers, Robert and Stannis, Renly is a noble man, a little too proud and a little too stubborn to assume the leadership role he so rightfully seeks. With bastard child Joffrey at reign, Westeros is in the thick of an ugly war, new enemies and allegiances...
