Richard Gere Dislocates Shoulder In Movie Stunt

September 2nd, 2010 8:21am EDT
Richard Gere
Actor Richard Gere is nursing a dislocated shoulder after injuring himself while filming a fight scene for upcoming thriller The Double.

Production on the film, about the murder of a U.S. senator, has been halted for six weeks to allow the Pretty Woman actor time to recover from a stunt which went wrong. Despite his injury, Gere is adamant he wants to continue with the physical scenes instead of relying on a body double, according to his co-star Tamer Hassan.

He tells Britain's Daily Telegraph, "We had been rehearsing for four weeks every night and Richard was great, but he had a proble...

The Golden Age Of Black Talent In Hollywood

March 2nd, 2010 10:05am EST
Are Black Men The Dominant Leading Actors Of This Era
Hollywood has always had its share of big-name black talent, from Sidney Poitier to Hattie McDaniel to Louis Gossett, Jr. But looking back, none of those big names owned Hollywood like Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford, or Audrey Hepburn did. Poitier, McDaniel, and Gossett, Jr. were immensely talented pioneers, but they were vastly outnumbered by their peers in the industry. Unfortunate as it was, they were the exception in Hollywood, not the rule.

This was probably due in part to the social fabric of America at the time. It can’t have been easy for Sidney Poitier, even with his incredible tal...

March 1st, 2010 10:02am EST
Alice In Wonderland
Kevin Smith’s “Cop Out” turned out to be a delightful action comedy in the vein of typical buddy cop movies from the 80s and early 90s. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I laughed throughout the film. This was primarily due to hilarious performances from Tracy Morgan and Sean William Scott. To read more about what I thought of “Cop Out” check out my Starpulse review here.

The movie follows a trio of drug cops in a rough New York neighborhood and was filmed on location in the deprived area of Brownsville. Fuqua admits he feared for the safety of his cast and crew during the shoot.

He tells WENN, "We would be filming and then you'd hear gunfire and people running up the street. It was very real to be around a lot of that stuff. We were protected by some gang members that we had rel...

Review: 'Amelia' Displays Stunning Cinematography But Storyline Is Dry & Lacking

October 22nd, 2009 10:21am EDT
Amelia
The new Hilary Swank, Richard Gere led film, 'Amelia,' is a tale of two films. The cast is stellar and the cinematography is simply wonderful; unfortunately something is awry with the script since the film is entirely too long, dry and lacking when it comes to an interesting or an in depth storyline between the two lead characters of Amelia Earhart (played by Hilary Swank) and her husband/man behind the career, George Putnam (played by Richard Gere).

The film covers only the most basic portions of Earhart and Putnam's time together in saying that they were in an open marriage and busin...

Richard Gere is speaking out for same-sex rights in the U.S. in support of his brother, who married during the brief period gay unions were legal in California.

Gere is outraged by the California Supreme Court's recent decision to uphold a gay marriage ban, which came into effect under the Proposition 8 legislation late last year - six months after homosexual unions were declared valid.

And he is adamant there is "no reason" why individuals like his younger brother David should be denied the same rights as straight couples.

He says, "My brother is gay and he got married in...

Spotlight On The Best Big-Screen Lawyers

April 16th, 2009 10:00am EDT
Chicago
Lawyers have been around basically as long as the law has been present - even back in Ancient Rome and Greece there were men who would stand up and speak for the laws they made. Over the years the role of the lawyer has altered a few times, but it always comes back to truth, justice, and honesty ... or the exact opposite of those ideas.

Lawyers have gained a rather negative persona, either due to them wanting too much money or doing it for their own ego rather than what is right. Film often interprets reality, and so lawyers on screen are usually portrayed as either virtuous, helpful,...
