"House" sometimes has a unique theme that runs over the course of the full plot, and when all of the storylines within it are connected, it really comes out to be a shining episode. The long anticipated and much hyped season premiere of "House" has come and gone, and it left behind a slightly dissatisfied air. While there are parts of this two-hour episode that are beautiful, poignant, and chock full of unexpected character development, it also has unnecessary segments and a lack of trust in the audience.

This week's episode of "House" had everyone talking, either in excitement or annoyance, because they foolishly gave away in the preview that House and Cuddy might be taking an important step in their cat-and-mouse dance. This is the way to bring up ratings on a show, obviously, but it made the entire episode be about 'ooo when will they hook up, is it now?' And of course it's not until the last scene, duh. So last week on "House" the writers decided to 'shock' everyone by having their happy-go-lucky character Kutner abruptly commit suicide. The background story is now known, with Kal Penn taking off from his acting career for one in the government instead, and the writers decided to use his exit in a dramatic way. After the dust settles, the show went back to its roots in a lot of ways. More of Cameron and Chase from the first three seasons, plenty of Wilson and House playfulness, and even a clinic patient. It worked well as an episode, but it did make Kutner's death a little anti-climatic. C...

Well, the self-proclaimed "most dramatic episode of House yet" is over, and the responses are rolling in from both sides of the spectrum. Some people are angry, some are confused, some are horrified, and some are heartbroken. Honestly, considering all the melodramatic ads, the fact this tragic death came out of nowhere, and the fact they clearly were just pushing it for a "message" or to shock the audience ... "House" may be guilty of sensationalism. It wouldn't be the first time, but it's a little sad that a good character had to be victimized for it.

One of the ways that "House" becomes more than just your average procedural is how, occasionally, the writers and directors like to be more surreal and artistic. Occasionally it does not work, but on the most part these episodes are a wide success and praised. The car crash last season with Amber's death is an example, or the second season with House being shot. This week's episode "Locked In" is about perspective and how people make their own prisons, and it guest stars Mos Def as the patient of the week. It is also somewhat based off the excellent movie The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.

Occasionally on "House" the writers will have two-part episodes or maybe a storyline that manages a full arc.

Stacy was one, so was Tritter (ugh) and even Amber, and yet those were all people for House to react to, and in this episode it is all about his reaction to himself. House finally has the chance to be happy, not unlike when his leg was 'fixed' after the shooting accident, but he classically chooses the wrong way. This was done far too fast, but that's probably due to the fact he's a side character in his own show now. Foreteen is all that matters to David Shore, apparently.

Gregory House is a mean, sarcastic, brilliant, and caustic individual. For some reason this charms and fascinates the viewers, but there are times even for the biggest fan that you kind of wish he'd get over himself already. Maybe change just a tiny bit; bend a tad or progress or show real emotion. The best thing about House is for all his inhumane behavior, he is a very human character with endless flaws and insecurities. But sometimes it is hard not to want to slap him in the face and say 'go to Cuddy's party already!'

Wow, "House MD" officially celebrated its 100th episode this week, and that is a number to be proud of. Congratulations to the cast and crew for keeping this one of the best shows on TV, even if the fans grumble about a few things here and there. Will everyone still love the cranky drug addled doctor in another 100 episodes? Hopefully we'll find out!

Oh, "House," remember when you were a show a bout crazy medical cases and an equally crazy druggie doctor who lived outside the rules? This was before it became all about the personal lives of the characters and random romances, of course. Those were good times. This is now the show that seems to think it would be completely believable that Cameron, a young doctor with no real administrative ability, could take Cuddy's place without the board apparently caring or paying attention. Ah well, you work with what you got, and we still love you.

"House" is back at a whole new time, and boy can that be a little jarring. It is difficult to juggle a full TV load for a fan, and the DVR can only record so many things at the same time. "House" is now the lead-in to the newly returned "24," which means it is on Monday's on FOX at 8 pm. For anyone who missed that, do not feel too foolish; you were certainly not the only ones. What is better than seeing Gregory House verbally mock stupid people? Why, watching him try to be nice to them first! This year's Christmas episode of "House," titled 'Joy to the World,' involves House trying to be genuinely nice to his patients in order to win a bet with Wilson. There is something very surreal about House smiling and wishing people a happy holiday. This was one of the episodes on "House" that makes a fan smile; it thrived on layered plot lines and excellent acting. It reminded everyone why this is one of the best shows on television and deserves the Emmy nods every year.

While the focus on Thirteen has been irritating lately - and continues to be somewhat in this episode "Let Them Eat Cake" - Olivia Wilde manages to play the role both subtly and compassionately. Plus, there is plenty of Huddy (House and Cuddy romance) hilarity to go around, so yay for "House" getting a good medium with its full cast.

This may come as a shock, but the writers of "House" are managing to find a way to incorporate both the old Ducklings and the new Numbers. It is surprising and actually entertaining to watch, but the jury is still out if this will continue. If more episodes were like this episode "Emancipation," and less centered on annoying 13, it would be as good as the earlier seasons.
