Willie Garson Directs His First Episode Of 'White Collar'

December 5th, 2013 12:10pm EST
Willie Garson
Tonight's episode of White Collar is a special one, because Willie Garson - the delightful actor behind everyone's favorite enigmatic con man Mozzie - will get his first director's credit. BFTV recently had the chance to chat with Willie about making his debut as director and a few other things besides, like finally learning his character's real name!

In "Quantico Closure," we get to poke around in the past of one FBI agent Peter Burke, as he ends up working alongside his ex-girlfriend (played by guest star Kim Dickens), which naturally doesn't go over swimmingly with Peter's loyal wife El...

'White Collar' Recap: 'Judgment Day' (3.16)

February 28th, 2012 11:09pm EST
White Collar
Can you believe it's the White Collar third-season finale already? And are you ready for the answer as to whether or not Neal will be a free man? Well, here we go...

While we open with Neal getting the particulars on the commutation hearing process in a room with no decor (because all important hearings on TV seem to happen in big, open rooms with no decor and are run by unlikable, interchangeable bureaucrats), Peter is stunned to hear that his pal Kramer (Beau Bridges) doesn't just have his sights set on luring Diana to Washington. He wants Neal there, too. Here I think, "Dude, ge...

'White Collar' Recap: 'Pulling Strings' (3.14)

February 7th, 2012 11:04pm EST
White Collar
This week's White Collar brings back some absent characters, introduces some new ones, and mixes them together to create a lackluster outing.

Elizabeth's birthday is coming up, and Peter wants the weekend off "unless someone dies or Neal does something big. Maybe not even if someone dies." He's leaving Diana in charge, even as Diana reveals that she's engaged to her girlfriend Christie. Sounds like everything is going grand, right? Well, until we start talking about a stolen Stradivarius violin...and Neal's now ex-girlfriend Sara Ellis, who thinks her boss Bryan (Bailey Chase) is t...

'Suits' Star Patrick J. Adams Joins USA's 'Characters Unite Month'

February 1st, 2012 8:00am EST
Suits
Suits star Patrick J. Adams is among the many USA Network faces making statements to address social issues and cultural divides for the network's second 'Characters Unite Month' in February.

The SAG Award nominee is adding his voice to help stop bullying, something he experienced as a teenager for his interest in theater.

"When you're the guy doing the school plays, that's not necessarily as cool as some of the other people," he said in an interview. "I got bullied a ton. I got pushed around a lot. [But] by the end of high school, the same guy who was beating me up in the ninth grade and...

'White Collar' Recap: 'Neighborhood Watch' (3.13)

January 31st, 2012 11:02pm EST
White Collar
This just isn't Elizabeth Burke's season.

This week's White Collar has Mrs. Suit overhearing plans for a robbery thanks to a scanner Peter left at home. When nothing materializes, Peter and Neal are skeptical, but (of course) Mozzie is more receptive. He and Elizabeth monitor the scanner until they hear the same voices again...right across the street from the Burke home. The new neighbors are Ben (Matt Bomer's Magic Mike co-star Joe Manganiello) and Rebecca Ryan (former Criminal Minds star Lola Glaudini).

Elizabeth coerces Rebecca into inviting her and Peter over for dinner. Plus, ...

'White Collar' Recap: 'Upper West Side Story' (3.12)

January 24th, 2012 11:03pm EST
White Collar
Oh, White Collar. I love you for your ridiculous charm.

The case of the week sees Neal and Peter approached about potential embezzlement at upper-crust Manhattan Prep. The lead suspect is Andy Woods (Dylan Baker, who's played a bad guy so often we should just assume he's the villain every time he shows up), who's in charge of the school's endowment and may have cartel ties. To check him out, our dynamic duo goes undercover, which leads to plenty of entertaining shenanigans.

Just minutes after their arrival, Neal gets mistaken for a substitute teacher, but rolls with it when he s...

'White Collar' Recap: 'Checkmate' (3.11)

January 17th, 2012 11:05pm EST
White Collar
White Collar is back, and we answer the question: where is Elizabeth Burke?

"Checkmate" picks up immediately from the midseason finale, with Mrs. Burke in the hands of now very familiar bad guy Matthew Keller (Ross McCall), who wants to exchange her for the hidden treasure. "You could've walked away," Peter tells Neal angrily, and a recalcitrant Neal admits that "I should be paying for it, not Elizabeth."

Yet when Neal brings Peter to the warehouse where the treasure was, he finds that Mozzie has moved all of it on his own. This means that in order to find Elizabeth, our dynamic d...

'White Collar' 3.06 'Scott Free' Review

July 12th, 2011 10:03pm EDT
White Collar
Deja vu is the theme of this week's White Collar, and it works - though perhaps not as well as it could have.

When the FBI starts tracking another wily con artist, Scott Rivers (Hutch Dano), everything feels a little familiar - but that's the point. For the characters, and for the audience, it's impossible not to hold the mirror up and draw parallels between Scott's present and Neal's past. Things get complicated when there's an attempt on Scott's life early on, making him equal parts criminal and victim. It's a great concept for an episode, one rife with opportunities for characte...

'White Collar' 3.05 'Veiled Threat' Review

July 5th, 2011 10:01pm EDT
White Collar
Hello again, White Collar! Apologies for cheating on you with The Voice, but I'm back now and I'm glad to see you haven't missed me too much. "Veiled Threat" isn't the best episode, but it has glimmers of greatness inside of it.

This week's premise is rife with possibilities: Neal, Peter and Jones go undercover at a bachelor auction to lure in a suspected "black widow" named Selena (played by Madchen Amick, who will always be the spouse from Viva Laughlin to me). While this makes Sara bring up that she and Neal have never been on a "real date," Elizabeth is more amused and tries ...

TV On DVD: 'White Collar: Season Two'

June 16th, 2011 5:43pm EDT
White Collar
With White Collar premiering its third season last Tuesday, Fox Home Entertainment released White Collar: Season Two on DVD on the same date. Here's my review.

The Show

I fell in love with White Collar almost right out of the gate. Ever since I saw Matt Bomer in ABC's Traveler, I knew he was going to be a star someday, and the show found a perfect match for him in veteran actor Tim DeKay. There was smart writing that balanced a case of the week with character development and an ongoing mythology, moving along each in equal measures. Great acting serviced well by strong writing - we...

'White Collar' 3.01 'On Guard' Review

June 7th, 2011 10:10pm EDT
White Collar
White Collar was a favorite of mine in its first season and parts of the second, but I have to admit that by the end of season two, the shine had started to come off the show for me. As a result, I became very interested in what season three would be - would the show win me back or would we break up?

The third-season premiere starts off in an awkward but not entirely unexpected place, with Neal and Mozzie trying to make a quick escape from Peter and Diana. Four days earlier, Neal's being polygraphed regarding the events of the second-season finale. (I've been polygraphed; this is...

'White Collar' 2.16 'Under The Radar' Recap and Review

March 9th, 2011 9:46am EST
White Collar
White Collar's second-season finale has everything but the kitchen sink: the return of several prominent guest characters, including the villainous Vincent Adler. His takedown was certainly rewarding, but did it live up to the hype? That depends on how you look at it.

Peter and Neal are strolling through New York, with Neal carrying a box full of fake Rolexes, on their way to the FBI office. Sara is there waiting for them, claiming she's found something big in the ocean - but first, we have to have the obligatory awkward moment between the two of them since they were locking lips a...

Interview: 'White Collar's' Tiffani Thiessen is no Trophy Wife

February 8th, 2011 11:30am EST
White Collar
There's that old saying that behind every man is a good woman. Well, behind dedicated FBI agent Peter Burke is his loyal, smart and successful wife, Elizabeth. The woman behind Mrs. Burke, actress Tiffani Thiessen, sat down with me before tonight's new episode of White Collar to talk about the perks and positives of playing one of the show's versatile and vibrant supporting characters.

I have to say, I've looked forward to talking to you because I've enjoyed your character so much. She is so well-developed and so not what one would expect in her role.

In the twentysome-odd years I’ve...

Interview: 'White Collar's' Willie Garson Doesn't Mind Being Shot

January 25th, 2011 3:36pm EST
White Collar
White Collar has returned to finish out its sophomore season, and it's as good as ever. Before fans are treated to tonight's flashback episode, the man behind Mozzie, veteran actor Willie Garson (pictured here with Matt Bomer), sat down with us to spill about the backstory and the experience of playing Neal Caffrey's sidekick.

What's it like being shot?

I can tell you this, the synthetic blood was very, very cold. So, it was annoying, actually, to be shirtless and covered in cold goo for many, many hours.

My death was shot so beautifully. Then coming back was interesting mostly be...

'White Collar' 2.10 'Burke's Seven' Recap and Review

January 18th, 2011 11:04pm EST
White Collar
White Collar is back to finish out its second season, and it picks up almost right where it left off. After being shot at close range in the midseason finale, Mozzie is rushed to the hospital, with Neal by his bedside once he's out of surgery (following the fastest montage ever). The TV cynic in me knew long ago that he wasn't about to be killed off, but it's still nice to get that addressed immediately, so the audience gets an answer and the story can move forward. After all, imagine what's going on in Neal's head. He's spent the first half of the season upset over Kate's murder, a...

'White Collar' 2.10 'Burke's Seven' Advance Review

White-Collar-tv-52.jpg
White Collar left us with a bang - literally, as Mozzie was shot by a man named Julian Larsson (The Dresden Files' Paul Blackthorne). As we resume the show's second season, the normally cool Neal Caffrey is still running hot, knowing the two most important people in his life were targeted by the same conspiracy. Having finally caught Garrett Fowler (Noah Emmerich), he sets his sights on Larsson - and what could be just another "let's move on to the next page of our mythology" episode is an impressive midseason premiere.

Mozzie's fate is handled deftly within the opening minutes; not ...

'Sex And The City 2' Will Be An Old-Fashioned Surprise

April 7th, 2010 10:01am EDT
Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon, Sarah Jessi
Sex and the City 2 seems like it would be reliable enough. It’s the sequel to a movie based on a TV show, so the format is pretty well established. Co-star Willie Garson, who plays Stanford Blatch, gave it an intriguing twist when he described the new adventure of Carrie Bradshaw.

“I think it’s like a wartime comedy,” Garson said. “It’s like a Bing Crosby/Bob Hope road comedy and I think people will really respond to it. I know the fans will love it. I hope that we bring in some more. Who knows?”

The first Sex and the City movie gave all the series regulars an equal part, and the supporti...

The adoption was finalized in Los Angeles on Wednesday - and Garson is excited he can finally call Nathan his son.

He tells People.com, "From the first time I met him, I said, 'That's my kid.'"

The 45-year-old actor reprises his role as Sarah Jessica Parker's best friend in Sex and the City 2, r...
