Billy Gardell Buys His Wife A House For Valentine's Day

February 17th, 2012 2:20pm EST
Billy Gardell
Mike & Molly star Billy Gardell gave his wife a Valentine's Day to remember - he bought her a house.

The Bad Santa funnyman purchased his very first home and handed the keys to his longtime spouse Patty as a present.

He says, "Valentine's Day was good. I bought her a house... Unbelievable. First house. I never thought I'd have bricks under my feet. Especially this kind of house. I grew up in an alleyway in Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania), I've been in a one-bedroom apartment for 15 years."

"And I got to buy this house and I literally walk around and wait for the owners to come home and go, ...

However, the heavyweight star has vowed to take his time with the challenge after several failed attempts at fad diets.

He tells KnoxNews.com, "I think (TV bosses) will let us drop some weight if we choose to. I think I am at that place, health wise... I'm 40. I have pushed this l...

'Mike And Molly' 1x03 Recap: 'First Kiss'

October 5th, 2010 9:17am EDT
Mike and Molly © CBS Broadcasting Inc. All Rights Reserved.
It seems like every episode opens with Mike and Carl at the diner, and this time Carl notices that Mike's lost some weight. Mike's feeling much better, health-wise- he's not dieting, but has learned to control his portions. More jokes are made about his weight when Samuel acts unbelieving at Mike's unusually small order.

Mike's planning on asking Molly out that night, but Carl tells him that you should never ask a girl out on the same night you call her. Mike doesn't really care too much about what he says, and is planning on impressing her with his bowling skills. Carl teases him about be...

'Mike And Molly' Recap: 'First Date'

September 28th, 2010 9:52am EDT
Mike and Molly promo
Aright Mike and Molly, here's hoping you aren't as painful to watch as last week.

The episode picks up (in what I'm guessing is going to end up a regular spot) at the diner. Poor Mike, still trying to eat healthy, has the waiter pour his diet shake into a fancy glass, hoping to trick his mind into thinking he's actually eating something that tastes decent. He tells Carl about finally getting a date with Molly, and the two of them end up stumped on what he should wear.

Carl gives him some (terrible) dating advice, including "bad boys get the yum-yum." Mike's not entirely for it, believing ...

Presenting Starpulse's quick-and-dirty guide to this fall's new CBS programming.

First, the new:

Mike & Molly, Mon. Sept. 20, 9:30/8:30 CST -- America's obesity epidemic has left a lot us a bit fluffier, and "Mike & Molly" might be CBS's attempt to deliver a show we can relate to. Unfortunately, that seems to be the extent of the humor -- being fluffy. The main characters, played by Billy Gardell ("Yes, Dear") and Melissa McCarthy ("Gilmore Girls"), meet at an Overeaters Anonymous meeting, fall for each other, and deal with the modern-day problems overweight couples face. Time will tel...

'Mike And Molly' Recap: 1x01, 'Pilot'

September 21st, 2010 9:47am EDT
McCarthy, Gardell
It can't be easy writing a comedy about two people meeting in Overeaters Anonymous and falling in love; a show like that is something that takes a skilled writer who is able to take unlikely characters and make them starring love interests, while not always falling back on the easy and horribly obvious fat jokes. Unfortunately, "Mike and Molly" wasn't able to get those writers, and we're left watching as fat jokes were tossed back-and-forth faster than our eyes could roll.

We're introduced to Mike, an overweight cop who would just like to lose a few pounds. He and his partner Carl are hang...
